Hey guys, I've searched everywhere trying to find the measurements of the rubber body mount pads for my '50 Shoebox to no avail. I've found the kits for sale but I work in rubber manufacturing and I'm also a cheapskate (haha) so I'd prefer to make my own. If anyone has any info I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
I used rubber belting from a farm fleet store and drilled them out with a hole saw. I had issues with the doors lining up. I called Dennis Carpenter and they said the mount kits they offer are different thicknesses and my doors didn't line up right because they need to be certain thicknesses in different locations, their not all the same. ??? Not sure what the original thickness from Ford was, but it kinda made sense?
Tires if you can cut them. They are not much of a body mount. Might as well not have any but i guess it helps for squeeks mostly.
Shoebox frame body mounts are not exactly dead nuts from side to side nor is the body dead nuts..You may need couple pads in some places and or shims added in others..Usually they are with in a 1/2" or so...If you have an old pad cut it in the band saw and see what the inside looks like and go from there in varying thickens starting with 3/8"...
