Check with freight (truck) companies at the starting point. They all have specific requirements and varying costs. Expect to pay in the area of $500. .
I've used Uship.com on many occasions with great success. I've had cars, engines, etc. delivered from across the country at very reasonable prices. They also have a cost estimator based on recent transactions.
PM thirtytwo on here....he is currently in California and will be coming back to southern Minnesota in a couple weeks. he has a S-10 pickup. if you don't make contact here, i can give you his cell phone number
I use U ship to ship motors LTL . Price was very reasonable and service good. All you need for sure is it must be on a pallet and somewhere with a fork lift or loading ramp for pick up. I ship to the nearest truck Terminal. I believe it was Carol at U-ship who told me when I first did it and said I didnt know how "Dont you worry none, honey, we will walk you through it." And she did bless her pea-pickin heart. I shipped a 5.7 hemi block from NC to Watertown New York. $97 Don
Try BenD, he just shipped a motor and transmission from California to Texas for me at a very resonable cost.
I used www.fowardair.com a few years ago to ship a longblock flathead and paid around $450 from an Alabama dock to my house in California.
