I have an Autogear 4 speed in my Model A coupe. With the engine off, the 1-R and R-1 shift is smooth. 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 are also smooth. With the engine running, 1-R and R-1 are damn near impossible. 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4 are smooth. The trans ran smooth in another coupe with another shifter. We've played with the linkages to no avail. Thoughts? Remedies?
Sounds like a slight clutch adjustment is in order. Reverse needs a full disengagement, if not it will hang and/or grind.
