Just remember what idiots paid for Hostess Twinkies when they quit making them.

63 bid biding war. A real bad case of OMG I gotta have those for my gasser or else.
Starting price was 100 + pretty reasonable shipping so the seller wasn't expecting to get rich off them. I'd be worried that a bidder with a feedback of 60 might not pay up though.

I've been looking for wheels for my station wagon project and saw a guy advertising 4 aluminum torque thrust 15"x6" for $4995.00 on ebay . Completely insane .

Makes me feel pretty dang good about the set of four American Racing torque thrust 15X6 with almost new big and little tires off a Camaro dude for a $100.00 bucks apiece at Spring Carlisle this year :D He went with those big ugly 22 inch black wheels and rubber band tires because they look so cool. He told me he had just sold a set of old hubcaps he found in his grandpas garage for 10 bucks a piece, the guy that bought them told him they were 57 Cadillacs. Wish I had found this dipshit a little earlier in the day!!

I bought a set of 15X4 last year with tires for $300. I'll sell them for $1500 to anyone that wants to step up. Like new. I'll even throw in brand new lugs.

Looks like if I don't have any takers maybe I need to get a locking lug nut.

I have looked at the listing several times, but I do not see where it states the wheels are magnesium. Maybe I am missing it.

Wether ebay, CL or on here someone puts up an out of sight price and gets it or not and everyone who has the same item thinks it is worth that price. I suppose that's why people think rat rods are worth $15,000 to $20,000. And shop built rods stick a guy in the $ hole right off the bat.

  22. I just seen a set listed today for $750, not on Ebay so no bidding, asking and getting are two different things, even those bids on Ebay could be bogus.

  23. Like anything else, two guys get in a bidding war there is no telling where the bids will go, Shame I don't have a set to sell to the loosing bidder. HRP

Yep, just because it shows sold at that price, certainly doesn't mean it actually happened. It's easy enough for a few buddies to bid something up and falsely make others think the market value of said item is going up.

True. They are out there. I seriously doubt the sellers would pay those prices.

My buddy got caught up in one of these scenario's while selling his convertible. The highest bidder flaked and didn't buy it, and the other guy wouldn't honor his final bid. My buddy had to relist it and wasn't able to sell because no one would bid on it the second time. After waiting a while, he finally did find a buyer who bought it at a fair price.

I hope this guy that sold those rims gets his $$$...

I had a pair of 15X4 SS wheels, ( not uni-lug) on the inside of the rim it was stamped “not for highway use”.
That did not stop me from using them, I put quite a few miles on the car with them. (Avitar car with the SS’s)

  29. That's probably an outlier, as someone who sells there you have to look at all the completed listings and knock out any way high or way low to figure the average price.

I can remember when you could hardly give those wheels away unless they were perfect. Heck I had a Hollywood wheel I found in a junkyard (like on the original Green Hornet car) and only got a couple hundred for it.
