Did the "suits" get on your case for saying this yet?

I usta subscribe to SRM, 99% of the reason was to read "Bills Eye View".

    RIP Bill.

That, then, is really a shame.

Nope, I don't know everything about Wally. In fact, I'll admit I don't know any more than the average enthusiast knows...but he was President of NHRA until 1984, and was Chairman of the Board thereafter. He was absolutely instrumental in NHRA's corporate sponsorship deals, the centering around pro teams, its marketing and direction, its rules, etc. What it is today is a direct result of the direction he set. That's not a bad thing, but I stand by what I wrote: the NHRA Machine was enormous while he was President and Chairman of the Board (a position he created for himself). Until '84, he was the head decision man, and after '84, the decision men still had to run it by him. That's not bad, and I'm certainly not vilifying him, but there are absolutely parallels to the rise of NHRA and history of magazines and what they have become.

I will never understand why my wife chose this week to forget putting popcorn and the grocery list. I'd have gone through a whole bowl just on this thread. And, can anyone show me how or where to get those little munching icons. It really sucks when opportunity arises and you don't have proper ammunition.
Don't quit now boys this could last for several more pages. I'll check back later and see how everyone is doing.:D In the meantime a big hug going to everyone involved.

I would like to, for a second, mention that I have submitted and contributed to a number of tech articles under Ionia Hot Rod Shop's name and yet we have never paid for a single ad in any one magazine or book. The same has to be said for the Hamb, which is also free!

And we got work and sales from all of them....

And to think there are probably so many other more meaningful threads posted that haven't received the attention of the Circus this turned out to be...

Bottom line. Check out the SR issue mentioned. If you dig it, buy it!

Thank you to those that actually stayed on the topic I posted. I'm gonna go read my magazine now... Damn, left it at work.

I hear ya T-Roy. I would venture to guess this thread might not last much longer before Ryan shuts it down - and IMO rightly so. It is a train wreck that went off the rails.:(:(

Well, T-roy did get his point across and we took some interesting side trips. It's always exciting to see what lurks behind Door #2 on the HAMB. It's the journeys you get lost on that turn out to be the most interesting. Thanks again, guys.

You brought out the zippo. Some of us (ahem) added a little gasoline. But what the hell...a nice bonfire among friends isn't a bad way to spend a night.

I think its impossible to read awhole Mag & not get anything out of it! No matter how knowledgeable you are, so if you pick up one thing( even if it is from a advertisment) then it was worth the $5.
Why is everyone so "deep" lately?? Can't we agree on anything anymore?
    lol
