Technical Section a 27 windshield stantion

Ok Guys I would like to take four inches out of my 27 Roadster windshield stanchions and maintain to top where to top is held. I think if I cut the stanchion just below the top windshield pivot then 4" down from that point then weld the bottom part to the bottom of the top pivot it should match up pretty close. This is my first time doing this so I need some expert advice. Thanks Jim T.

Thanks Tman good guess on my part. I was just trying to see where the taper would not be effected.

 

Here is one I did. glass is frameless, sits in channels attached to the posts. posts were chopped like you asked.
