I have heard a mini van 3rd row seat fits if you like the idea of a benchseat... Lots of those at the salvage yards...

Take a look at the MG. Small car with eairly style seat. Also consider 1965 and older VW.

  5. I ran 83 vett seats in mine but the backs were too high. The seats before that were nice and comfy but butt ugly. Don't know what they were out of.

  6. forklift seats, nice, small, very comfy.

might check out small truck split bench seats, not as traditional but it will fit your needs, try to get one with seperate head rests that you can removed when you recover the seat.

I have been looking for some 50's MG or other British sports car seats for my 27 T
They go for way to much money on Ebay.
I am going to drop the $300 each for these Cobra seats a British company started to make seats for the original AC cobra and they still make that model today.

I see rear mini-van seats quite often on Craigslist , usually free. I would start there

  13. I used Ford Escort seats in my truck. They have manual lumbar and the passenger seat has a slide out storage tray built in under it which comes in real handy for papers and stuff. Also they are CHEAP. I took the headrests off and they look good in my opinion.

  14. Wow, that Cobra seat looks nice for $300.

Won't '65 mustang seats fit an A Model? Seems like I saw them one time, snug but in there. You might look for the auxiliary seat from a 15 passenger Dodge(I think) van. They make a nice bench. I have a couple of these I picked up a few years back for just such an emergency. Honestly, if I were looking for cheap buckets for just about anything I would go looking for a nice set out of a Camry, (I know, shame on me ) or other Jap sedan seats. You take the head rest off and the back is nice and low and they come every way from basic cloth (almost free) with sliders all they way up to nice leather, heated, electric, (still relatively cheap.)

Like already mentioned the early Mustang buskets can be made to fit. Also, you might want to stop at a farm supply store and check out the industrial offerings. Take you tape measure with you.........it will save a second trip.

I used early a-body(pre-65) dodge buckets in my falcon. They are small, and have very nice chrome trim.

I used mid-90's s-10 pick-up buckets. We cut the headrests off before they were reupholstered. Fit is a little tight but they are quite comfortable.

I used short back Pontiac Fiero buckets in my 31 A and they were a good fit and reasonably comfortable.

I used 65 Mustang seats in the rod in my avatar... and the engine, transmission and rear axle, and a few other parts....

That rod is long gone and 65 Stangs are harder to find.......

For what its worth, I am trimmer and what I am going to try in my rod is this.

I have a seat out of a 85 or so Camaro, I reclines and tilts as any bucket seat should, so I am going to cut the seat frame right down the middle and widen it to the specs I need. This should give me a perfectly fitting seat that has the movements of a bucket. I will be starting this tomorrow, I will take plenty of pics and if it works out I will do a tech article on it.

    Wish me luck

They aren't that pricey if the upholstery design and color will work with the rest of the interior in your car. It's hard to get a pair of wrecking yard buckets redone for 600 these days.

We had a 91 Mazda 626 that had decent seats with a removable headrest that should fit in narrow cars.

Mopar minivan seats can be removed from their original stands with four bolts and the adjuster goes with the seat in most cases. The stands bolt to a flat floor and it would be pretty easy to section a pair to get the seats right where you wanted them.

I'd remember one thing when picking out a pair of seats for the car. Along with fitting the car and looking appropriate for the car they need to be able to fit you and yours and they need to be comfortable enough to drive/ride all day in without feeling beat to death.
I've probably had a dozen different seats in my 48 over the years and some were comfortable for long distances and some like the one in there now look great from the outside but beat the hell out of anyone riding in the truck for more than five miles.

  29. so what kinda seat would ya use that wont beat ya up on a long ride if ya got a channeled body and the tunnel is up in the body? Looks like all these are for a flat floored car....
