Bet the car you are looking for was built by metalshsapes in Arizona. How is this years firewood pile doing?https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/body-hard-top-tech.11722/ SCROADSTER sounds a lot better than Coupester IMO, and Steelback sure sounds nicer than Blindback. ;)Bob[IMG]

Bob, Thank you, that is it. Wood pile is going down faster than a blown scroadster haha.

It took me less than a minute to do a HAMB search and post that info, remembering metalshapes ID was the key. That was/is a cool car with a lot of details to study. Bob

Bob, I missed a reply by Porknbeaner that also mentioned Metalshapes, there was just so much BS flying around I skipped right by it (thanks Porknbeaner) I found the thread on building the top and the rest of the car, what a great build, memories of the old HAMB. Here's a pic. from that thread. Thanks so much to the old HAMBers. And Metalshapes for a great thread. scroadster 2.jpg

Nice shot! I'll have to reread that build, I remember the dropped pan and firewall were the main features that made it special to me. Bob

I think "scrod" is the past pluperfect subjunctive form of the transitive verb "screw".

Made up or extremely localized term I'd think. Outside of your hood no one has ever used the term as shown in the past 3 pages.

I just finished running the web crawler across the first 28,000 Google page results.

You are right. We've never heard of it, and it does not exist.

I can run the next 28,000, if you want.

Not saying that you cannot use it, or that it won't catch on, but try to not get too wadded up over it if it doesn't.

  15. The guy, one guy a HAMBer with handle "K-member" named his car or rather pile of parts Scroadster. kinda like "The Scroadster" which had absolutely NOTHING zero zip nada to do with a sport coupe or cutting the top off of one. It was a one time "name" used as a enduring name, not a term "used for years". I posted the link go look for yourself and be free of this nincompoopery

31Vicky thanks for the link it was very informative, really liked the post by Zgears in Dec. of 2005 in a thread about turning a sport coupe into a coupe where he said he would rather see that than have it turned into a "cheesy scroadster" He is from N.C. not in my "Hood" my hood is on my car.

    Hear ye hear ye:
I propose a motion to the Hamb to accept and embrace the term "Scroadster" and to its proper usage to describe a sport coupe with coupe parts removed. To move the term into its designation of being a widely used.
    Do we have a second

This thread....hey, Listen...oh.oh, Catdad49, there;s that word again...you know something about to spew out of me.. Listen.... I missed this thread because I passed out after supper, last eve...it's been a ah, hem...wild ride since January 1st 2017... seems I really DID have Lyme in me for 20 Months, BUT I never knew it got into my brain!!! around May we think! Hard for me to know when my marbles "got spilt" out of that old brown paper lunch bag!

Oh, geez, the AWESOME sensible comments on this ONE "Old Style", "original flavor" HAMB" thread really brought some flashbacks! oh, ....AND those comments MADE me Know I AM truly home with similar minded folk!!!!

....A coupster? solid steel skinned roof? covered with painted cloth? ...yep, I finally finished one in a decade!! , but...then gave it to my son?... as they were using it to go to the Airport Drags in Spencer Mass in June? ok, well... then I kinda recall gathering up all the confusing paper crap I kept getting about the joys of turning 65..oh, and deciding to "rid" my place of things I don't need? Oh, burn them! as I don't have nor can afford trash pickup? Yes!, but then the State Police came! They thought I was ready to cash out of this world? Hell no, I ended up in two hospitals, oh, one was Mental Health...and... I was hitting on all them so awesome staff cuties!!

Well,.. I now get tired of one-finger typing, Oh, nor do I feel like adding text to each pic, so you guys and gals write your own words to these "memories"...... the last ones in the thumbnails are some Star doodlebug I slapped together in 3 weeks this summer...almost possessed ?? JUST like Richard Dreyfus in Close Encounters of the third Kind...building that mashed potato volcano core ...on the kitchen table?

Last thumbnail pics... I never renewed my driver permit by my 66th birthday on new years eve...so I been "buggin" around town, in blizzards? and sitting at the dam yesterday? IDK what if any help this is to Doodlrodz, and.... I simply don't care! I need to do some more work on my NEW living room I JUST decided to do a couple weeks ago?..and IDK why?

Doodlrods...here is the First bug ...I bought it from a very old friend, it was always my favorite old cutdown he had or still has out of Many!! It is around a 30-31? Whippet, I honestly never saw a later Whippet with this type of more conventional radiator shell design, I love the looks of that type! I grabbed it as he was kinda forced to downsize his vehicle collection! I knew he really liked this one a LOT, and he knew I'd take good care of it! It is in my top barn as we call it! He recently gave me two hoodsides from a Federal truck that have those "hood doors" vents instead of typical louvers!! It will look sweet when I get to it in spring! I am going to be in FULL health VERY Soon! Ok?

Sadly, my young friend with the lightning bolt on his back.. "Cowboy" Matt....he came down with a brain tumor, not long after he was making a cool video of two more "younger" friends of mine, Tim and Jillian, not a couple, just good friends to each other.. look at those smiles will ya! That is what we are all after,...I think Matt will be OK now! They caught it in time!! I can relate, you know? Bye
