Man, that is a beauty what's the plan? HRP
I hope it gets a chop, channel and a caddy motor....maybe?
Can't understand why you guys always suggest screwing up a real nice ride that maybe needs a dropped axle and 16 inch wires or steelies to be a nifty hot rod.
That is one great looking cabriolet.
I'd not touch it. Clean up to todays safety standards, wash, wax, fix the flaws no SBC please.
I see I'm in the minority on this, the car is just to sweet to do any more to.
I do love hot rods but when a car is in as nice a shape as that one I would not touch it. Those Fords were perfect from the factory. I understand the engine up-date and the juice brakes though. If you do insist on changing it, as was said earlier, a dropped axle along with the 16" wheels. I feel you want a very different car sell yours and get what you really want. Good restored almost examples are getting harder to find! Let th flaming begin...
LS motor, auto, Jag suspension, F&R, 6" chop, tilt / tele wheel, a/c, killer stereo.
I want it to be something I can comfortably drive cross country, following the Rolling Bones guys.
Right now is HAMB friendly. If you go Jag suspension it will not be, believe me I know
Oh please, HAMB friendly has morphed into SBC, tilt column, radials and tweed interiors....don’t pull that molarkie with me,,,,I was on the Hamb when it was truly vintage and you were thrashed for running radials...lol
He said he wasn’t a street Rodder! He’s a Hot Rodder, I get it....do you?
.... hell ... if you take the body to the scrapper for weight ... I got a line on a Street Beast 33 roadster body for you too. Best Street Rod thread ever !!
On another note .... you North Easterners strike again. Some of the best Hot Rod threads here ... always. Yep ... youse' guys "get it".
.... latching on for the ride. Thanks.
I just traded it straight across for a Factory 5 3W that I will take to the Goodguy's Slalom championships. I hope I get a Big Trophy!
Please post update photos as this progresses.
It’s gonna be a rad ride when it’s done,,,,I can feel it.
Some of the comments are funny, because no where on this post have I said what my plans are for this car.
I hesitate to open this can of worms, but it does not have the original engine, trans, or brakes, and it's been repainted and reupholstered at least once in its life. So what, exactly, would I be preserving?
I agree, if this were an all original, low mileage car, I wouldn't touch it, but it's not, and I'm a Hot Rodder. Hopefully with enough good taste not to screw it up.
You had me at "LS motor".....
Is it April Fools Day???
Congrats and honorable mention to the seller.
Nice! Have a good build.
There are so many old rods lurking out here. I drive my avatar car as a daily, so people come up and start telling me what is in their barn, or uncle's, wherever..
Massachusetts, or areas close to Mass borders, always was infested with old hot rods from as long as I can recall.
Maybe a VEGAS rat rod stay build with a Cummings diesel?
Found the original For Sale ad.
Great score, congrats!
So, the above comment you made was strictly an attempt at humor.
I thought so.
I’m not with the guys who want you to “preserve “ it, I agree what’s to preserve?
There are some guys on here who want everyone to preserve everything, even cobbled up early rat rod junkers.
I do agree with the don’t billet it up guys and also agree that a very nice traditional hot rod can be found with a little bit of careful work.
I can "see it" done already. I wouldn't swear to it but I have a good idea of where you'll take it. I know what I'd do...
Yes, my style is more like my avatar.
Great score , build it as you like and enjoy.
You are indeed correct. Most jump to conclusions or have an opinion that they feel is always correct.
Tasteful or not, it’s his car and he can do as he pleases,,,,,as Iv been told before, if you don’t like a thread than don’t post...lol
Congratulations, sir. I know just how you feel.
Your car was listed on Ford Barn a couple of times with pictures before it was put on Hamb. I was surprised it wasn't sold sooner.
Wow, that's interesting, thanks. Do you know when?
I've got enough problems trying to get shit done, just following the HAMB, so I rarely get on the Ford Barn. He said a lot of people were interested, but everyone wanted to trade him something. I paid him in cash, and it was his first real offer, until the guy from Australia called him.
Separate names with a comma.
