I have always wanted 60 Olds wagon. Had a 2 door and a 4 door Holiday sedan, but allways wanted a Fiesta wagon. Thanks to a fellow Hamber, I finally got one. Came out of Canada. Originally California car, 25 years, then Kansas, 20 years, then Canada 9 years. Very solid. Runs an drives, sort of. No reverse, and tranny leaks like a sieve. Need to decide, rebuild or adapt something newer. Not sure what it will look like finished, mild custom, hot rod cruiser, only time will tell. Jjk Posted using a number two pencil on a paper napkin.
Sounds like its been around wounder what kind of stories the kids could teii that were riding in the back.I like it always have a soft spot for old wagons.
She is a big un. very cool back corner glass and the striping is a nice touch. a CLR bath and a rub and wax and she will be a beauty.
Nice score! GM did a great job on the airy rooflines on the '59 and '60 models. You seldom see the Olds or Pontiac wagons, though. ---John
I can dig it. I flew into Seattle from California Central Valley and drove home my 62 Pontiac Bonneville Safari wagon. I've been loving this thing since the first time I heard it run and saw it in person.... My plan is to keep it road worthy and drive the wheels off it with the kids and lady.... just like it was made to do. Good luck on your wagon. Ill be following along.
Those wagons are fairly rare, production under 10,000 IIRC, closer to 5,000. And I would imagine with that combo X-ladder frame a lot got used up in demo derbies. There was one here in an old yard that didn't seem to be in that bad of shape considering, other than the engine was junk - factory air, too - that I kind of regret not trying to save before the place was cleaned out.
Thanks all. I have had a couple of 60 Chevy wagons and a couple of 60 Olds sedans/coupes. this is the first 60 olds wagon I have seen in person. looks like Olds made about 14000 of them in 1960. Chevy made 212,000 wagons that year.
Nice score, one of my all time favorite wagons ! Had a lead on one out in a feild but never came through. Found a 57 Chevy wagon instead... keep us posted I'd like to see what you do with it style wise. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
