yep its ruff.... but its mine. built in the 50's parked, rusted up, rusted up again and then sold. sat for more years and then I bough it. its got a bunch of leaded seams doors, trunk etc. old style dropped axle, juice brakes. like i said its ruff but cool at the same time.
when we dig it out i will get full shots. the plan is to keep what was done.. done. freshen it up a bit and make it proud of all its lead.

we hired a young kid at work and he saw my mad fabricators cd's on my work bench and said. hey my neighbor has one of them rat rods in his shed end of story that is what i would like to do. just freshen it up alot but still keeping the car the same.
here we go.... there was a place local to me that was junk yard lure... but it wasnt lure. it was so true. Lester Pyle was an old hot rod junk yard man. he owned one of the greatest goldmines in the area. acres and acres of pre 50's treasures, buses sheds and barns full of stuff. Lester built this car back in the day. fast forward..... Oh 4-5 years ago Lester's cancer got the best of him and he passes away. the yard was still the way it was back in 1965. After his death his boys and girls took ownership of the yard. Larry the son ran the yard for a few years after his death, heres where the trouble starts, the yard has a huge $ assett to the family. Some of the kids wanted the thier share of the money NOW, some wanted the yard to continue. well scrap was high and yep. you know the ugly rest. I was a small boy (if i ever was) when I started going to his yard. Lester was always a very fair freindly, guy. He knew the average Joe had struggles like he did. In turn he would make sure you were able to do with what you need. He lived in the center of his treasures and was proud of them all. This car was built with a torch. things where trimmed and cut with a torch. it was crude but it did the job. he had a vision, he built his vision and was proud of it. there is a photo hanging on the wall of the "new" yard office of the car back it the day. At least one son still hangs onto his fathers values. with that said I will do my best to keep the car on the same roots as Lester wanted. RIP Lester Plye.

Good going Jon. Looking forward to seeing the roadster. I got a tour of the yard with Junior this past Oct on the way to the drags. I could not get over things like tons of cool model A wheels being pushed into dirt mounds with a bull dozer. I guess some people don't understand
WOW....those rat rod dvds huh...payoff... I grew up rt 8 north ofPittsburgh...rode dirtbikes in the area alot....never new about Lesters yard... I am ashamed....wish i could have helped.... I know the type of man he was though....glad to see some of this boys are holding those old values....its not surpriing though....Pittsburghs just like that....
