and it ain't because i don't trust it; it's the cheesedicks in the OTHER cars that scare the hell out of me. trying to avoid crumple-zoning some SFB's in a wheezebox that just HAD to cross in front of me to get to the exit or trying out my off-road capability in a '59 Galaxie kinda ruins the whole "driving my car" groove. (SFB's? Shit For Brains)

That's why I have at least one extra of almost every part (doors, fenders, grille, etc.)

It will go away with time, I used to get nervous as a whore in church about driving my "off topic " car but it went away after a while and a few bugs and chips. Now it's all about the drive.

First, put in a good set of seat belts, and use them. Second put a third brake light at the TOP of the rear window. When in town, I try to drive in the left lane. I always drive with my lights on. Drive it like you stole it, I have only been nailed once since driving a rod since about 1973. Have fun.

  11. My 64 Pontiac has been t-boned once and rear ended. Nothing a new rear clip won't fix. ;) My 69 Mustang has been rear ended, too. I still drive em. The 51 Merc is outside the office as I type. What fun is it if I can't drive em. Only metal....and lots more of it than a new car, so I feel safe enough. Crunch it, get more metal and fix, enjoy driving some more. Just the way it goes...

Driving my cars doesn't bother me so much but riding my bike makes me want to carry a gun and end a few lives.

Yeah, I have a '59 too, and it is a tank...but I don't want it bent up by some asswipe driving one of them enviro-friendly, government subsidized, geekmobiles that looks like a jellybean with wheels.

What's the point of building it if you don't drive it? You should build models, or boats, or combine the two and build ships ina bottle. Get the sand out of your pussy and don't be an old man. Go down swingin'. A 59 Galaxy? Most folks would think real hard before pulling out in front of that sucker.

Nope. I had an idiot hit me in my first car, a '51 Chev. My car handled it like a champ, hers burst in a billion plastic pieces.

I have a roadster now and while I'm more cautious than I was, I still put the miles on it like crazy.

If you are scared to drive it, ya might as well buy furniture.

I thought about rigging up a hopper full of billiard balls connected to a pull cord to ward off the tailgaters! Not really;).

An acquaintance of mine rigged his reverse lights up to a toggle switch so that if someone is tailgating him he can turn it on at a red light, roast the tires when it goes green, and watch the driver behind him freak out and brace for impact.

If you know how to drive, then the close calls won't turn into accidents. I drive in NJ and have been hit twice by complete retards and have avoided countless other obstacles by being alert. When in doubt, drop the hammer and get outta the way because you sure as hell ain't stoppin...

Drive it or sell it. But don't cry that you're afraid to drive it, because that's your fault not someone elses. Besides other drivers there are also animals to deal with. A deer wiped out the front of my cpe 7 years ago. Fixed it and I'm driving the wheels off it.

The only thing I'm scared of is trying to stop on a dime for some A-HOLE who cut in front of me!
