Scallops I've heard of thats what I had painted on my old truck. But a friend swears there is a such thing as Scalloms he keeps saying "I am putting Scalloms on my car". I told him there's no such thing but he insist. Says he read about them in an old custom paint book? Supposed to be the same as Scallops but with rounded edges?

I think he's confused. Maybe I'll start calling Flames, Flapes?

It must have been a typo at best.
Put money on it or just slap him.

Think he probably meant sclames. Josh Shaw had them on his 32 sedan for a while. It was my favorite paint job on it yet, especially with the moon discs. Think Hot Rod Magazine, first issue cover car.

    That might be it.
Maybe I'll slap for the hell of it though.

    Scalames, or flamed scallops
Scallops painted with a fogged color change the way flames are typically done.
The one Yank posted isn't it, in my opinion.
That's just single color flames, but still flames because they "wiggle"
