I spent a while searching the site, but only found a few. Thought there might be more out there. Looking for inspiration for my Helray. Here's a couple of pic's from the advert when I found it on craigslist: Couldn't see the right side until we got it out of the garage where it had sat for the last 17 years. Thanks
Check with 'Buzzard' here on the HAMB. His wife drives one. In fact, one-shot's illustration looks like Buzzard's car
Where did you get this picture? That belongs to a guy in Central Michigan. I have a few more. I'll edit them and get them on here.
Dang, 1-shot, I'm flattered that you would pick her car to illustrate. She'll get a kick out of it when I show her. And to think that I was just amazed that the Shine-O-Matic made Rikster's page! Thanks for the kudo's on the car. Lux Blue, Angie and myself prepped, layed out, masked, and shot the gold in 19 straight hours a couple of years ago right before the Roundup. Of course, Lux is the one that sprayed the paint. Not bad for a self described non-painter! We were lucky to have Barnett and Von Franco each pick a side to pinstripe the scallops. And yeah, Bolender's '58 was scalloped. That's where I got the basic idea for layout.
I think it was called fogging in the early Street Rodder article about the cars. There isn't any sharp line in the red. It fades into the white. That car and movie had a major impact on me when I was 15 in '73. The avatar for me is my '58. Owned it since '81 or '79 depending on which part we're talking about.
By the way Buzzard, if I wasn't a dirt poor Grad student, I would have bought that '58 from you 10 times by now... love that car. Did you sell it yet?
Amazingly to me, we still have it. She was ready to sell it in April to make room in the garage from my '55. I priced it about $5K lower than what my buddy's that I should just to get it gone. I couldn't believe it didn't sell. So, we bought another house instead. This one has a garage in back so I'll have room for all 3 cars. I have a new 350 for it and will change the Turboglide for a 700r4 when I make the swap. The crappy transmission is really the only issue with the car. I'm glad we get to keep it, though I'm sure she would entertain trade offers for a '38 Chevy.
