    Will a 302 bolt up to a stock 49-53 ford 3 speed?

I think there is a bellhousing that fits
with the small bp for the trans and
    6 bolts for the engine
but it has been a long time since i
had any thing to do with that

I know for a fact that the other way
around is doable 3-4 spd 60s trans
    on a 8BA

You can bolt a pre 65 289 up to the 49 to 53 trans but I would just install the post 65 3 speed trans along with the newer sbf if you want to retain the original column shifter.

Another option is to use a scattershield. They will usually have both the early and late trans bolt patterns on them.
