This question is to anybody running a sbc 2GC tripower and a Zips water pump riser. What did you use for a thermostat housing? Thanks , Bill

Not using tri-power, but have a single four tunnel ram and used a stock-style housing that goes straight up and it clears the manual fan without any issues.

Thanks for the responses. But the issue is the fuel bowl of the front carb. a picture is worth a thousand words. Bill

Can you get the camera angle down low and sideways so it shows the manifold to carb bowl clearance?

I just looked at mine on the shelf , and it has a housing that angles off to the driver-side.
I don't have a Zip's though and look's like that would interfere with your alt/gen whatever is in the pic.
    Sorry

I built one out of stainless pipe but I don't have the 3x2s anymore. I kept the thermo housing in case I ever needed it

No idea on the zips, but there are low profile necks or offset ones, would one of those work? Just a pic I found online, I think it was an ebay thing...but along those lines

I appreciate all of you guys trying to help me out. I'm trying not to waste to much money on things that may not work. I've ordered two different styles of straight up housings from Summit . They should be here tomorrow. They should give me a better perspective if nothing else. In the back of my mind, I'm thinking like Danny G did and making one from scratch. Just to ramble on a bit, how many times do you suppose that someone has built a car close to what I'm building? ( 29 Roadster highboy ,32 frame , sbc, 3X2,Zips water pump riser ) I would think many times. I mentioned this to a good friend of mine earlier today and he busted out laughing at me. Thanks, Bill

Yes , that is making this more complicated.
The offset needs to be just the opposite. But Thanks, I appreciate you guys. Bill

I don't want to be a wise guy and I probably wrong on this, but the carb is mounted backwards, the float bowl goes towards the firewall and the throttle arm should be on the left side of the motor. But then again, only two of the cars that I have can be driven on the road, the rest are apart--HA HA

Not to be a wise guy here either. If you turned the carbs around , I would have more problems with the distributor.
But I appreciate you trying to help. Bill

Here is what I did with my SBC Tripower,,, I found a cast iron thermostat housing from NAPA, looked in their real book and found one that looked good with the right neck direction to clear every thing,, then I took it home and started to grind on it until it cleared the carb.
There was still a bunch of metal left on the housing and you can be paper thin close as there is no movement between the two. And it was less expensive then the chrome Chinese o-ringed blister packed POS.
The car is home, if you need a pic I can tonight, but for part number,,, sorry it was like 15 years ago

I also think carb spacers would help with your issue. There available in 1/4'-1/2' thickness and would give you extra room, plus spacers would prevent future fuel percolation problems.

For some reason my computer and camera don't like each other today and I can't download pics.
Dennis, Thanks for the pics! What brand is your intake ? It looks like your carbs have the fuel inlet in the front. I got a housing from Summit similar to yours, but it won't work . What is you thermostat housing?. Bill

Intake is an old Fenton. Olds carbs with front fuel inlets. T-housing is from a 95 K1500 Chevy with a 350. 5.7 for the kid at the parts store. :) D

The more I looked at this the more I thought about giving it a shot. I think that with a little massage that this may work.(Thanks, Wackdaddy)
