where can i find info on a 471 cragar blower intake for sbc??? r they rare?? whats there value??? i know where ones at thanks
Huh 4-71 manifolds? or CRAGAR 4-71 manifolds?? If someone gets the rights to use the cragar name from that chinesse wheel company they'd have a goldmine...
looks like not many made or left could not find any on e bay any web sites with info on these intakes?? i like to research it thanks
Honestly Cragar has no reason to care what else they once made other than their wheels, other than for their HISTORY, but nobody much else cares except hambers who are paying attention. Hoarders need to stop treating these rare items like static specimens and let someone capable of re-popping & re-engineering them to take a crack, using the original as a model, and because there is no significant volume in the potential product base, it's more like a labor of love. How many could be sold, can it cover expenses? Does the original design really flow in the 1st place or not? The part trolls could still pretend to market their rare mystery part GRX style, a spooky legendary museum piece all heads will banter over, and no-one can really try due to the 1st marraige wrecking high cost, another slopped out Offenhauser Tri-Power mistake, my project's going another direction style. After so much time if they don't come out in the light the 4-71 idea is lost lost gone. There should be even more encouragement for re-popped, re-designed rare intakes for vintage engines here. The resources are here for manufacturing contacts/original design rights/engineering consultation and up to the minute flow testing. Who's gonna storm the fort, I'm in!! And after my rant~ Here is a complete legendary Smoke & Mirrors Team SBC Street/Strip setup recently sold out of HI!! Anyone here want to admit to doing the deed? cheers, n shout out to ted e this post is all bs but the picture is real enjoy.... Anybody from edelbrock foundry out there pm me.... click and commence drooling....
Does it have to be Cragar? I picked up two Weiands... a CV471 and a 7135... via swap meets and Craigslist.
Repops....Yes. Company in California is doing reverse technology and has ALL the pulleys, manifolds, tensioners, crager carb plates ect. ANYTHING can be repopped . Check out web site. http://mach-t3.com/index.html
The company I worked for before the lay off did the same thing... Plus they have an aluminum foundry...
If I could find one of these setups I would probably abandon the idea of running a HEMI with a 6x2 on top. Such cool pieces there....
Yeah that might work too haha!!! I actually think a 371 would be better suited for a 265 but what about a 301? Ahhhh, so many choices!
I know where a semi-complete setup is - was carb to intake last I saw it. I'll check to see if it's still around - was priced around $2200 if memory serves. Steve
still looking for info or a web site about information about this intake some body has to know i googled it and not much info maybe a blower manifacture? not even any on e bay thanks
there is a ton of the smaller blower set ups on ebay ive been looking for a smaller blower myself maybe there is something there for you..good luck
I'll do the deed ~ have full blown CNC machine shop and aluminum foundry. So all I need is the intake for reverse engineering? Have CMM to do the casting layout. Just need the intake. Will pay for using the intake and shipping both ways. Contact me if interested.
OK here is the plan - borrowing a CRAGAR or Weiand intake is the first place to start. CMM reverse engineering and a SolidWorks CAD design will take a week or so. Machining the tooling another 4-6 weeks. It will take another 3-4 weeks to get foundry tooling proved out. Going to do this right - this means aluminum match plate and CNC machined iron shell core boxes for the blower opening and intake runner core and a separate core for thermostat and water passage. Machining the intake will be the easy part. I have 3 CNC mills with 4th axis capability. So I can machine the bottom side and head surfaces in one setup. Then mount the casting in a fixture similar to a long block engine for the top side machining complete. I'm not going to put the CRAGAR or Weiand name on it so to preserve the value of the original intakes out there. Trust me I could make these exactly like the originals but that is not my intent. I'm just going to fill the hole in the market with a fair priced product for the Hot Rodders that can't find or afford the original intakes.
