My smug arrogance was crushed while rebuilding my water pump because I pressed the impeller on too far causing it to rub on the housing. So I flipped the pump over and started to press the spindle out until I heard "CRACK"

So I machined the broken surface down to just below the top edge of teh bearing.

Drilled, tapped and fitted a retaining washer, the pulley will hide it all.

This mod together with 609 Loctite on the bearing outer race should be better than the original casting.
    Any thoughts ?

Thoughts? A damn clever repair if you ask me! Way to save the unit and a few bucks to boot!!!
