I hope my comes out that nice, it has some small cracks where the quarter meets the trunk gutter. I hope you have long arms, to pat yourself on the back!

  4. I KNOW my 5-window basket case will not turn out THIS nice but you've raised the bar so high on this build that anything close to what you are producing would be great in its own right!

    Thanks Again Everyone!!

Had the day off and spent the afternoon installing the wood, had to trim the header boards above the quarter windows.

Nice to do something that you won't have too take apart again!

Took yesterday off from work and had a chance to fit the hood and grille. Also made the rear hood latch bracket.

Spent way to long on that portion of the project :).

Bench seat brackets and final work on the firewall are next .

    and another.

I did not like the floor boards I made earlier , just did not fit right.

Also needed to make the tunnel cover.

Filled the holes in the fire wall , 43 in all.

Also completely changed the cut outs in the wall as well.

Great job! Most guys would think that body had to go to the scrap yard. The nice thing about it is,its not a polished turd! You did it right and made a great body out of it!

  16. That floor is VERY NICE, great tunnel

Nice work on the floor, i see you use notes on the patterns to help from making them backwards, I've learned to do it too.

Finally got around to installing the body nails today. Did not like the square head, felt they would create an issue with sanding the body .

I ground them to have a slight crown.

Had to repair an area that cracked the bondo when I installed a couple of the nails, always something &^%&!!

Also worked on the dash, could not get the bottom screws to line up.

Cut a groove in both sides with a Dremel and a small disc. Spread until they lined up and welded.

First time all the dash screws were at one time since I've owned this thing!

Nice work 223, I am also looking for some body nails. My original ones that are still in the car looks lots smaller that what you have pictured. They do have a domed head. Are the ones you have posted from the hardware store, or some special application? I know what you mean with the dash. I had to cut a notch in my A pillar, and pull it in towards the car and reweld it. I was spread apart when the car was channeled.

    The nails came from mac's

They are suppose to roof nails, I have domed shorter nails but they were not knurled and that made me uncomfortable.

Head size is basically the same.

    wow. what an amazing transformation.

you took remains that only the dreamers or the incredibly talented would consider and turned it into a car that anyone here would love to have.

you are getting so close now.

Mike, an extremely well done job! It makes my '32 5 window look almost perfect by comparison. Awesome talent and determination. This is exactly how United pacific turns out their bodies I'm told. LOL Love the shot of the wood work and the bottle of glue; reminded me of many a model kit.

worked on the door tins the weekend before last and did not post the progress

The right side was pretty nice, the left junk. All the holes were rusted and as a result larger than the screw. Had to weld the back side and then finish the hole with a counter sink

The rear of the panel did not fit correctly , rather than cut and weld I scribed a line and using a block worked the metal over along the line

At the rear of the panel I had to replace the last inch or so , once I had this handled I had to add a screw hole and then dimple the hole.

I drilled a small hole and pulled the metal down to create the dimple with a wood screw backed by a socket .
