I have my gas tank Frankinstein welded back together, looks like shit but as long as it doesnt leak I'm happy. I filled it with water and it held 8 gallons I was surprised.I am still going to add a tank/filler on top to hold another gallon plus.
That should give you a range of 150 +. But with lack of weight, taller tires and less wind resistance you might get better than the 17 mpg my 230 gets pulling my business coupe around.
Yeah I was thinking about 15 mpg so with the eight gallons I have now that would get me 120 miles. That should be enough but I'm still going to add the top tank/filler.
Wow how did I miss this thread, great job!!! what are you gonna do for a gas cap??? I have this ifn you are interested its off my Moon Tank and not NHRA approved (had to replace it.) anyway a great job so far...........
Thanks for the encouragement. I have the stock international farm all gas cap that I will reuse. This is a low buck use what ya have build!
I rolled out a top tank/fuel filler tonight. Looks like a submarine now! This should give me an extra few gallons .
ok but it was yours for free if you use it and not as a wall hanger...............
Wow, I was thinking a cheater filler neck ala the Donahue/Penske Sunoco Camaro, not a whole other tank on top, haha. Yup, that should do it.
I think so! I know it's over kill but that's the way I roll! Ha ha!
It just needs a periscope now!
Love the Pun!!! LOL... I am a smart ass too, makes life more fun.

Had some time this afternoon to build some fuel tank mounts. I had some pieces of model A tie rod left over so I threw a bend on it and mounted it off the seat riser tube.
I have the top tank, lid and filler neck tacked on the bottom tank. I even have the original farm-all gas cap.
...you have any pics of this thing on wheels so we can see what it looks like?
Where you been Rusty... this is page 24.

...Hey Two Rusty's...
Rusty what is the square area below the seat?
Oh that is where my battery is going to live. Fits perfect under the seat.
Havent had time to work on much but I did get my top tank welded to the bottom and the lid is welded and ground. I will get it all welded and take it to my local radiator shop to test for leaks.
I picked up some farm-all red paint so it looks like it came off a tractor.
I sure hope theres a track nearby to get some Yahoos out after this is done. I know it's going to be a streeter but I'm sure you want to have a go at it in its comfort zone of the yesteryear.
Great stuff Rusty and Happy New Year to You and your Family.
Thanks stogy, been sort of slow going lately. I got invited to a small traditional show across the state in Sioux Falls S.D. In early March. I need to get busy and make it one piece again!
...I was too lazy to go back thru the whole thread to find those pics...
...here's a few quik sketches of yer rig...you'll be out throwin dirt before you know it!
That's too Kool. You have some talent there sir!
Love those sketches - great work!
Doesnt look like much but this was an all afternoon project. I built an inside subrail that will sandwich the body tin. Cutting, fitting, bending, drilling and bolting.
tedious job for sure. Looks great though.
I was thinking the same things. It would have taken me more than one afternoon to do that if I worked at it long enough to make it look that good.
I have the front wishbones, spring and front end painted. Time to let it cure and then bolt it all back together.
I Love this thing.
