  1. I'd leave it just to see if anybody noticed it....bet nobody would. BTW, they make a great tail section...good idea.

Yeah, great idea for the tail section. Really has me wondering why Ford changed things up after 46? Especially as frugal as Henry was. Maybe in the post war tool up rush, they had to wait until the 47 model year to have the time to do what they really wanted?
If Ford modified the 46 die, that probably wouldn't have left many extra 46's left for parts.
I can see a body shop in 1950 ordering a 46 replacement from the Ford dealer and being told nope; only have 47/8's.

That is going to be a nifty one. I have two sets of T frame rails that were under a trailer that had wood cross pieces bolted to them. Your front spring mount setup may have caused a new project to get started at my house as the frame rails don't take much room to store.
I like your ideas and really like the concept of looking around to see what you have available to work with to build it.

If that little Ramble is like most of them from those years that I have been around it may have a closed torque tube drive shaft. That shouldn't slow you down much though.

  4. You could name this beast, "the neverfreeze special".:D
Whatever power plant it ends up with, be sure to keep the coolant topped up...;)

Your not messing about, I'm glad I found this, this will be a great watch.:)

Nothing much to report but my pops found me a 40 chevy pickup head light bucket that I am going to use as a head rest/funky tail section doodad. I wedge cut the cowl a few inches in the back to narrow up the back of the cowl, I think it looks alot better now. Sheetmetal is not my thing so progress has been slow and work has kept me busy. Nice build. I'm working on a similar project with similar sheet metal issues and similar solutions. sr_072.jpg

Looking at the photos, I think you've just found a name for the project, "The Pine Cone Special".

Went to our local threshing bee today in Sturgis South Dakota. I always find something to buy at the swap meet. This year I found this Kool tractor Fuel tank for the single seater. It should fit under the tail section pretty well. IMG_2116.JPG

Did a bit of rough cutting on the cockpit area tonight. Really need to get some bracing in the thing. She flops around like a fish out of water. IMG_2145.jpg IMG_2146.JPG

Made a template out of masking tape, layed out from the factory trim holes, flipped over and using black spray paint to mark out the drivers side cut line. Better get to cutting! IMG_2151.JPG IMG_2152.JPG IMG_2153.JPG

I like the headlight bucket. Lots of midget cars were done that way.
