I'm not sure of any camping areas actually IN Santa Maria, but you may want to check at 'River Park' in Lompoc. Lompoc is about 20 or so miles away and I know that River Park has RV hookups.

Snowbird trailer parks in the Pismo area. I tried to camp at Jalama Beach last month, the wind blew gusts 20-30, we asked others and they said it blew all night long that way. Cachuma Lake has nice camping in oak grassland, but maybe 50 miles from S.M. Try the AAA camping map.

We use to camp at Santa Margarita Lake when we would go to Paso Robles. I doubt you will wanna make the drive from there to Santa Maria.

I'm camping in the back of my pickup truck. And my gf is actually cool with it. Are there any bbq issues I need to worry about? As in, can I light it up in a Walmart parking lot or even on a street? Will anyone even care?

just put "santa maria" camping in google search

at one time there was camping at the end of main street where it stopped at the Ocean , I am sure thats gone now but it was fun when we had our dune buggies
