The wife and I went to a weekend run a few hundred miles from home a few weeks ago. While there a friend and his dad showed up with their 33 ford pickup that they teamed up on as a father son project and It got me thinking about a father son build. My pops just made a deal on a flathead that’s he’s known about since he was a teenager(he’s now 74) the motor was built in the sixties and set a few records in a 40 ford coupe in the southern Kansas area. Well today I just inked a deal on a 26 T roadster so now the ole flatty will have a new car to propel down the road. 153E1D1F-BE3E-4899-A4CB-6840313E62EA.jpeg

Awesome! What a great project. You got one project going with your son, and now one with your dad, that's so cool.

  3. Looks pretty solid. Was it converted to a pickup?

Oh yeah! Pops and I need to sit down and get a plan. At this point it will be flathead powered probably on an A frame. Transmission and rear end are still up in the air.
Pops has a 32 heavy axle that was dropped by okie joe under his 28 roadster and another heavy that is not dropped. I was super impressed by okie joes work so maybe I can talk him into dropping another axle.

That side view with that busted windshield post I can see that roadster with a laid back windshield, kicked in the back to settle it down just enough , nice dropped axle to level it all out , small hemi with tricarb , light blue with white t & r .... HOT ROD MAGAZINE cover early ‘60’s ...... except cover had a stock windshield..... Nurse quick I’m drooling again ‍♀️

It will be flathead powered for sure. I would like to run a T-5 so a guy can run at hiway speed. I wouldn’t be apposed to running an 8”or 9” being that it would be hidden under the turtle deck but a quick change would be the shit. Just a super simple late forties early fifties car running caps and rings.

That vision, the way you see the car, that's the difference between us and normal people. That's why I love to look at old cars and old car bodies. I don't see the missing, broken and rusted pieces. I see the finished car in my head. Some of my family would say" what a pile of crap". I say," what a gorgeous rod"...I feel sorry for them.

Pops and I have driven down to his hometown in southern Kansas and picked up the motor. We will be leaving in an hour to drive the 725 miles back home. 4523AA2A-C399-422B-AA15-C5ED5298FF63.jpeg F6537A49-8D1B-4136-A02F-634431D5D484.jpeg 8D9CDE80-7FE9-4B9A-945D-FD40A43C5CB6.jpeg On the way down we stopped in and visited krylon32 and drooled over his collection of real Henry steel 32’s. It’s always fun to meet a fellow hamb’er and put a face to a name .

I have the roadster at my shop where the majority of the work will take place. I have the fenders, steering column taken off and a rough mock up of ride height. I was thinking about changing over to an A frame but this frame looks pretty straight so I think I’ll kick the rear and probably add some length from the firewall forward. 11BCA95C-F21E-4CEE-B6F5-88566FFB5077.jpeg FFBEDCEC-17F9-457D-832D-1D76FDCEF7D7.jpeg I had this old aftermarket Low T shell laying around, thought it was sort of kool to get an idea what I’m going for. 19A043C5-721C-493C-82D5-03CEBE27B24D.jpeg
