This was a good weekend...got the wife's OT fuel pump changed AND got my '62 Olds running for the first time in 2 years. Sad, but true. Anyway, it runs/idles fine and drives out good EXCEPT when going into 2nd gear it really lags. 3 spd hydramatic. Doesn't backfire. It feels like a stick shift going from 2nd straight to 4th and slowly speeds up. - Timing is 3deg BTDC dwell is showing 45deg now - will set to 30deg - Verified #1 was at TDC on compression stroke before firing - Plugs and wires are good, new cap/rotor/points (gapped correctly) - New Holley 2bbl carb functioning correctly and plenty of fuel pressure.
That's what I though BC it's the only thing that is still amiss. The dist. for the '62 is dead - I've tried points and Pertronix and can't get a spark from it. The one in there now is from my '60 Olds for testing purposes.
