Well, it is sort of an rpu. Just a bunch of cast-off parts I collected that I am turning into a low-buck hot rod with the help of Killer and others... Here is the first installment... Z-ing the frame... Oh, and thanks Killer... I owe you. CLICK THE LINK BELOW... http://classictruckworld.tenmagazines.com/tenarticle.asp?aid=2791&sid=2
That's a beautiful job on the Z. I know what you mean trying to picture what the final product will be when you just have a pile of parts. I'm learning things all the time on my build. I think mine is on its way to riding too high.
Nice job on the tech. I can't get it to print right. The file goes off the page. Is there a printable version? I'm a technically challenged old guy.
I would be willing to bet that one of the computer-guru types on here could tell you how to resize it to print correctly... Me, I am with you on this one... "technically Challenged old guy"...
Roothawg - Try highlighting the tech article then go file, print...., and in "Print Range" make sure you have "selection" selected. That should work. Please correct me if im wrong.
I checked out your build-up photos on your Photo Bucket link. Looks like you had a lot of fun puttin your RPU together. I really like the pedals and the tranny tunnel...
this is exactly what i need to start learning about. on my teachers salary, I need to do this. I found a flathead engine and currentlly working on that while i come up with a body and chassis. I would think that a book should be written on how to do something like building a cheap RPU. there is already a guide called how to build a cheap chopper, this would be way better.
Well, it won't exactly be a book, but thanks to Killer and his trusty digital camera, I am going to be able to post a lot of the "tricks" and much of the build-up of my little pickup on the net. And if you have any specific questions you can just ask Killer or I on here directly.
that sounds cool, OGNC, I look forward to the build up posts, and I happy for you man, it looks great
Try the old cut-n-paste method... here is the url http://classictruckworld.tenmagazines.com/tenarticle.asp?aid=2791&sid=2
The rear half of the chassis is going to be part II. Killer has something special in store for the second half of the build-up!
