Completely different ball game with custom made lenses. Getting a lot of inspiration out of this.

Ratty_aussie, thanks. That car is awesome. That will be an awesome build. Let me know if you do a thread. I would love to follow.

  4. Thank mate, I definitely will in the next few months.

Do you have some links to what silicone rubber you used for the mould, what clear resin and dye you used for the lense? I've been looking at the smooth-on products and alumilite.

I know I'm jumping around like crazy but I'm kinda to that point I need other people's help or use a friends shop. So I finished the tail lights officially. I'm happy and this was the first time I attempted to do this so there was a big learning curve.

  9. Looks awesome, are they solid plastic? What did you use as lights?

Ratty_aussie, I used a two part plastic composite. The sockets are just your basic tail/brake light socket. I made them attach to the back of the bumper guards.

I started and mocked up my generator bracket for the motor. Looks like it will work so I'm going to get tubing and finish it up this week.

Everything you did to this car is frigin beautiful. I like the center post removed. I know how much work goes into doing this, especially making the windows work and seal. The chop is right on. Good job man.

LOW LID DUDE, thank you. I appreciate the positive vibes. Yes the windows will be a lot of work. Fingers crossed I can get them to seal up right. I'm having a friend help me that is way smarter then myself.
    Thanks again.

Small update. I got the belts on. Hopefully I will get my carb and the spark plug wire hold downs this week. I've been waiting on my water jet guy for 3 weeks.

Lowcoe, the major thing is my hood. The 40 had a butterfly hood and I want to change that. So my good friend Robbie is going to help and he was backed up on other projects. Looks like we are starting next Sunday.
After that I can start the body work.

I got the spark plug wire hold downs back. Time to assemble them and then paint. They're going to be sweet. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1424013878.187828.jpg

And I got the radiator mounted so I can make sure the hood will clear it.

So finally some real progress. I took the 40 out to my good friends shop. Robbie is going to help make this 2 piece hood into a 1 piece hood. Then he'll put some reset hinges on the firewall.
Also we're going to play with some stainless. Like trim and the hardtop window frames. He's got more talent in his pinky then I have in my whole body. I can't wait to learn and get this thing one step closer to getting her in the road.
Santa Paso is coming up fast.

Exciting to see that Buick longhood be opened that way like Cadillacs from same era... When hoods are opened, people starts talking to you! Wondering if nowdays people open the hood whit all that bling-bling messages "contacte your manufactor" coming out of the plastic piece of a shit dashboard....? Real cars have dashboards in steel & you open the hood by your own? Happy when your thread bumps in subscribed!

Great job! I thought I would hate the headlights until I saw them installed and it gives the car some "attitude". I also wondered about the tail lights but you really had the picture in your mind all along as to how it would look. Great vision and good talent.

Well my good friend Robbie helped me out again today. The hood is going to be sweet and I'm very thankful for his help.
