Ron meyers! No decal here dipsh*t

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by oldfart36, Mar 13, 2012.

  1. Want this to be a light hearted thread in praise of a guy from our area.

    Well, here's the skivvy.

Last summer I had Ron Meyers come up to my shop and work his magic on my 29 sedan. We talked about a tasteful amount of pinstriping and the R.F. in the ice cream stealing mode, due to the fact I had gone with the flat white on the car. He nailed it, like always!!!

Here's the deal, it happened again yesterday. 2 jokers show up at my shop to look at a part I had for sale. First thing out of they're mouth, "Wow, where did you get those R.F. decals, they're great". This has happened to many times to count in the last year. I'm beginning to think, very few around here apprieciate the real deal anymore.

Ron your the best and I'll see ya in Dewey.

I must say in defense of others thw quality is so nice that I can understand why someine would think decals. Its really hard to fathem that there are still artist that can hand paint that nice. With that said its damn nice paint work.

Ron is a true master of the paint brush and a great guy too. Every time I see him I say if he has a few minutes where he's not slammed busy I'll have him pull some lines on my cameras and iPad and my car, but the guy is always busy. Guess that means he's good or something :).

So many people ask if I pinstripe with tape, or when I do designs if I do it with a stencil... the world just doesnt understand paint and brush like it used to.

    Ronnie's such a giving person.
He presented this to me at a club get together...I was floored...said he did it just because he loved the coupe.

Ron Myers is one of the best, here is one of my favorites. This is a trophy that Ron did
for me. You know that a guy has skills if he can make wicker Kool. Checkout all of the
layers, this was one sick panel. I think that pinstriping is in him and its just got to come
    out.

In their defense, that's probably what I would assume at first glance too, it's done so well! That's incredible.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Ron's handiwork around the Midwest. Pure talent at it's best! Love the red cross on the spider back. About all I can draw is flys! Must be the Turds thing. ~sololobo~

Hahaha! I know a few of you Turds and it can't be you fellas drawing the flies in the "Big O", it must be all of those stinking grain elevators up there.

As for your car's ink job, that is AWESOME! I've seen a lot of Ron's work around here and to say he does beautiful work is an understatement. I can understand where you can get a little disheartened when some moron calls it a decal bit in my opinion, if his work is getting confused with a decal, then the paint that he laid down must be as close to perfection as you can get! Just my 2 cents worth. Anyhow, it looks great Chris and thanks for shooting me a message. I'm still trying to get shook loose to come up and shoot the bull with you.

  17. Ron's the man. He drove over here from Tulsa early one Saturday morning last fall and spent 12 hours striping everything all over the office as well as two cars to boot. Funny? Good gravy, he had us in stitches the entire day. I also had him duplicate the Von Dutch striping from the Hirohata Merc dash on the dash for my Mercury. Awesome striper....I need to find more stuff for him to lay some lines down on. :)

Here are some pics from the marathon day he spent over here:

I never cared for the RF deal tho, always thought it was cheesy, then and now.
