I had just posted this on Byron Dragways site:
Damn this is sad. I just met the man for first time on Saturday June 29th on my first visit to the Byron Dragway, while attending the Meltdown's Pie Crust Drags.
I was in the staging with my Black 40 Ford Coupe and a guy wheels up in the staging lanes next to me in a late model Mercury Marauder like he owns the place . He rolls the passenger side window down leans over and asks me if I wanted to sell my 40. We had a really nice conversation, he proceeded to tell me that he was the previous track owner, said he wasn't getting any younger, was turning 80 soon, liked my 40, flips me his business card and told me to keep him in mind. So, God Speed Ron, I'm glad we got to meet!
There are two threads on Ron's passing but yes condolences to the Leek Family and friends on the passing of Ron...
Rest in Peace Ron.
