Did a repair on the front seats over the last few days, The front bucket seats are from a 58-60 Thunderbird and the foam in the butt of the seats had completely disintegrated so badly that it seemed like you were driving thru a sandstorm when you drove it. here is a pic of what was falling out of the seats...

 

Because I had never really done this kind of work before, I took a lot of pictures before I tool things apart

 

This is how much foam was left after I removed the covers. and a picture of the reproduction seat foam I bought from Ecklers

 

One of the hardest parts was hog ringing the listing below the cords bordering the rolled and pleated sections, but I finally got it

 

Finished seats back in the car, and man do they feel a lot better than before and I won't have to vacuum the car every time I drive it!! I have a new appreciation for upholsterers also, even though I did no sewing I found out how hard they work just putting the covers on...

Yup, I talked to an upholsterer friend and he recommended I get an Osborn brand Hog ring pliers , they worked great

 

haha, it is a workout but my hands are ok... I wouldn't want to hog ring 8 hrs a day 5 days a week though...

 

And yes, I replaced the burlap, I even hemmed it all around so it would not unravel

 

Drove the 56 up to the drive in yesterday. I had just replaced the ball joints and A arm bushings. drives pretty damned nice....
