Event Coverage Rolling Bones Make It to Houston

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Zeke Fishburn, Mar 31, 2011.

  1. Met some of the Bones membership. Great bunch of guys. Gulf Coast Inliners made a good showing too. Lots of people and lots of fun.

These were taken at Jard's place last night. Stellar turn out and one hell of a good time.

I took these with my cell phone and was pretty hammered so forgive the poor framing of the shots.

  4. The Rolling Bones are headed to the Lone Star Roundup and passed through Houston. Jim Jard hosted a little get together in their honor.

OK so who and where is Jim Jard? First I heard they were headed to Houston. Thought they would go right to Austin.

  7. I guess if you have to ask you weren't invited.

I've been waiting to see this one with paint, and my expectations were right on, nice job fellas.

What are they using for the lakestyle exhaust? Are they torque tubes??

Don't be like that Ken...I was just voicing my own personal opinion.

If I didn't like your work, I wouldn't have built one of your cars. :)

oldsboy I'm sure some used torque tubes but they are / were to heavy . the best ones are made from the sheet metal drive shafts in side 35 / 36 torque tubes . they taper down from the center so you can cut one in half and get both sides

  22. Nice attitude, I thought all of our cars were supposed to be an expression of the owner/builder.
Can't handle it when someone doesn't like a cookie cutter 32 Ford?

    FAR from "cookie cutter".

A Tupperware '32 is a cookie cutter car...

  24. I like their style too. It was great to see that style revived by Ken and company from a period that for the longest time was only reserved for the survivor cars.

Now there are several of them out there, they are rapidly moving towards cookie cutter status. You can spot a Bones car at a 100 yards now. I've seen a couple of glass 32's in the Bones style, complete with the same fake paint.

I also agree that the tupperware versions are cookie cutter. A true cook will tell you that the cookie cutters in her kitchen come in plastic and metal.

A copy, is a copy, is a copy.... No matter how you cut it. There is nothing left to do to a 32 Ford that hasn't already been done. The only thing left you can do to a 32 Ford makes it look like the abortion that won Oakland a couple of years ago. We all bitched about that one, including myself.

My 32 Sedan is a prime example, it looks like the 30 other 32 sedans that are at the Nationals every year.

    . . . but the owner/builder wasn't the one expressing his opinion.

And at last count, there are 12 Bones cars out there. Hardly enough to be "cookie cutter".....Apparantly some of you guys are not familiar with Doane Spencer....Come see my 'Bones car sometime. It aint like any other one they have built, rest assured......

  30. Yes, I am old enough to have known Doane and Neal East personally, how about you?

12 cars make an even dozen cookie cutters :).

Post some pictures of your car, I'm sure I speak for several others saying we would like to see it
