I got up there early this morning. At 8:45 there was already a line backing up along Beech Bend. Lots of people inside and I could hear the cars staging and hear the rev limiters kicking in. Sweet music! I had to have a "coffee break" (get rid of coffee) and saw this in the comfort station! Caught up with my friend Bill Akin. That's his forty Ford. Considered one of the top 20 in the nation. He spamks it too. A few cool cars on display. Well, alot were on display! This car had plexiglass? Valve covers! Cool altered wheelbase Dodge. Reminds me of Dick landy. I went on over to catch some qualifying. I love door slammers. I really like em airborne too. This was one of the most sanitary Willys I've seen in years. Check it out! Four 33 Willys staging. They would typically run "similar" cars together; eg. 40's together, tri-5's together. I'll punch in some more later. I left early and it started raining when I left.
A few famous cars there. Jungle Jim's car. There were actually two there. Phil Bonner's Falcon WTF? Meanwhile , back at the track A couple of super sanitary 37's 64 Coronet with acid dipped body. Pointed out "no warranty". My favorite Brookville. Another deuce three window. Nice 34 Maybe more later!
There was actually one real Jungle Jim car(Nova) there. The other (Vega) is just an NFC using the name.
I'm only an hour away but LOML had foot surgery yesterday. Looks like I'll be relying on the feed and pix.
Here is a pretty good link for pix. http://bangshift.com/blog/hundreds-...ational-hot-rod-reunion-in-bowling-green.html
Thanks for sharing your pictures. I made it up Yesterday as well and had a great time. That red 65 coronet you have pictured was absolutely a beautiful car. I also got to hear that big Hemi running and it sounded better than it looked if thats possible! Had a blast! Matt
