He wasn't the editor. That would have been Lynn Wineland. Sent from my SM-T350 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I think it was Old Cars Illustrated that Neal oversaw, a GREAT magazine with a lot of what we have here on the HAMB. Bob
I stand corrected....I do remember going to Street Rodder and smelling the big cat piss in the hallway carpets.
I read Rod and Custom as a kid. Then they stopped publishing it and I discovered Street Rodder. Eventually I quit reading that when there were too many ads.I used to read Sports and Classic Cars out of the UK. I quit reading them as well. Today I can get the same info from many other sources online and actually interact with those folks in the articles.
I have every Rod&Custom ever printed. I use to bug my Mom for the latest issue when we went to the store and they were 25 cents. In later years I bought them at swap meets and later on the internet to complete my collection. I had to give crazy money for the first issue, May 1953 "Rods & Customs" which was the only one that used the plural in the title. I would like to see it come back again too but don't think it will happen. At least we have the H.A.M.B.
I got hooked on Rod and Custom as a kid when I saw the old issue with Taboo on the cover. I still buy every copy of that issue when I spot them at swap meets. That issue has some great northwest customs. I really liked that special little book they did right before they folded.
Were you referring to the one shot issues when they went back to the small format? They published those in 2011 and 2012, and they were very well done. Great feature cars, cool layouts and they went to extremes to give the magazine an old feel.
Nice car, who owned the nailhead Buick powered T bucket? That is one of the best looking T's I've ever seen, my copy is up in the attic, one of the all time best R&C covers. Hope that T is still around. Bob
I thought Hop Up had died. They owe many back issues if they are still around. Last one I got was issue Vol 14 No 3. Slug
Lucky to have had my deuce pu featured the Oct 05 issue of R&C. I don't think a reincarnation of R&C would survive in today's world?
TEN; The Enthusiast Network would be the publisher f it came back. they own all the big name mags nowadays. 4 Wheel & Off Road 4 Wheel & Off Road Digital Automobile Automobile Digital Car Craft Car Craft Digital Chevy High Performance Chevy High Performance Digital Classic Trucks Classic Trucks Digital Diesel Power Diesel Power Digital Dirt Sports European Car Four Wheeler Four Wheeler Digital Hot Rod Hot Rod Deluxe Hot Rod Deluxe Digital Hot Rod Digital JP Magazine JP Magazine Digital Lowrider Lowrider Digital Mopar Muscle Mopar Muscle Digital Motor Trend Motor Trend Digital Muscle Car Review Muscle Car Review Digital Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords Digital Mustang Monthly Mustang Monthly Digital Street Rodder Street Rodder Digital Super Chevy Super Chevy Digital Super Street Super Street Digital Truck Trend Truck Trend Digital Truckin' Truckin' Digital Vette Vette Digital
I loved Rod & Custom. Is Traditional Rod & Kulture really done? Might explain why I haven't seen a new one in the mail in awhile.
yep. I really liked the small format. It would be need to seem just something like that on newsstands once and awhile.
I read R&C when I was a younger man, loved it. A number of their tech articles were applied in principal to the build of my F-100. These days I read Car Kulture Deluxe and ‘Ol Skool Rods. Both are good and they have pinup girls standing next to the cars they feature. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Sorry, I was not clear - TEN owns (i.e. controls) a lot of dead magazine titles. Custom Rodder died - They rolled the subscription into Street Rodder Rod & Custom died - They rolled the subscription in to Street Rodder Roadkill died - And Street Rodder still arrives in the mail box <sigh>
Best be careful if you plan your income around T-shirts using Rod & Custom logo, I believe they own the rights to that Logo, and they might see money, and head your way..
R&C was one of the best. I still get Hod Rod Deluxe, TRJ, Canadian Hot Rods, and just lately stopped American Hot Rodder. I'm always interested in tech stuff so I spend too much time on the HAMB!
I ,m a bit sad obout Traditional Rod & Kulture biting the dust . It was the only mag I have on subscription from the U.S. I have , em all from No.1
