Rockford Illinois Area HAMB on the Rocks - Winter 2010

So last winter we had a few gatherings we called "HAMB on the Rocks". It was an informal gathering of HAMBers from around the area. We met for lunch, told some stories and overall had a fun time. We talked about having a garage crawl after lunch but it never wound up happening, until now. So mark your calendars...

The first HAMB on the Rocks for 2010 is scheduled for

JANUARY 23, 2010

We will be meeting somewhere in Belvidere this month because Kerry Hopperstad has offered to host an open house at his shop (Hopperstad Customs) after we eat lunch. So I haven't figured out where we will eat yet, but I'll update the post when I do. The schedule is as follows:

12 noon - Meet for lunch (place to be determined)
1:00 or 1:30 - Travel to Hopperstad's for an open house so we can hang out for a while.

Sound off! Who's tired of the cold weather and couch surfing? Who will be here?

I wish to thank Jeff for once again taking the time and effort to bring us together. This is a great time and I have met some wonderful folks.

 

I'll be there. If Mexican food is an acceptable idea, Taqueria el-Molcajete is the best in town.

KOOL The Quad City show is not the same weekend is it? A couple of us been going down there on saturday for the last couple of years.

Jeff, thanks for settin this up, count me in, how about Culvers rite near Wolf Chevrolet, they got good food and lots of room, just a suggestion, they got chili too.
It's time to get out and do somethin...lookin forward to it if the weather permits.

And I agree on this Mexican Restaurant. Family-owned and operated, the food is always prepared fresh and its genuine.

If Mexican were not to everybody's taste, another option could be Ned's Restaurant on Business 20 between Rockford and Belvidere. They have a general menu and seem to do a nice job.

Is there a place in downtown Belvidere called Ce Le Vive or something like that? Maybe that is not a place that serves food. LOL

 

8 of us are coming up from Peoria as there isnt a damn thing to do here in the rivercity and Kerrys place is cool place to hang out and drool over all the cool stuff he has.

ok I have the 23rd off and Im going to pick up Slickster and drag him with, whether his wife likes it or not. You guys name the place and we will be there! And food, ah shit as long as its not an MRE I'll be there to eat.

This sounds great, unfortunately the date doesn't work for me. And I've been wanting to see Hopperstad's shop too.

I'll definitely catch you guys next time, these were a lot of fun last year.
