Did an oil and filter change when I installed the new lifter.
Now the engine is going to come out of the car again, gets torn apart and everything flushed in order to get that steel grinds out of every possible grove and bore to avoid any further damage on down the road.

That makes me a bit nervous. i have a complete rebuild kit for my 98 convert project from Falcons. I must say the parts appear to be from all different suppliers (and countries).
I am running chev lifters with adjustable rocker arms in the 324 in my 98 coupe and the set up has been fine.
    Good luck

Just read the thread Jan. Have you fixed the engine? Hope you've got the new parts and are ready to cruise again. Good luck.

Have received the parts and the car is now jacked up on the engine should be out early next week for disambly and cleaning. Lets hope there aren't any further negatives to report regarding further damages to e.g. bearings due to the loads of ground down iron from the hydros...

Engine has now been disambled and it seems that the iron has 'only' damaged the crank rod bearings and not the main bearings as well. Will give all parts a good wash, get the crank to the next undersize and install new bearings.

Hopefully everything is back together and running within the next 2 weeks and I will wont be troubled again with such annoying problems...

  6. Hoping everything will work out and you get to cruise soon!

Sorry for missing to post the updates on this project...
The new cam and lifters are in - the engine is also back in the car and it runs like new. Been cruising many miles already and have had no further problems - only pure fun driving the wheels off of that car.

Here's a little eyecandy from a recent shooting of my girlfriend - if you look closely you will find my ride somewhere in the back ground... ;)

Next plan is to close the gas door and move the filler to behind the tail light which shall swing open like on the 56/57 Caddies. Still figuring out the hinge mechanism...

And thanks for the nice pictures too!

  12. Nope... I looked really hard. I just didn't see your car anywhere! :D

You're a lucky man. Glad to see your car is back on the road and that you two have been enjoying it.

Thanks! I am a lucky guy as she is also willing to assist and work on the car herself - unlike my previous girlfriend... :D
