Got my hood frame back on friday afternoon from the polisher, I did have a go at polishing it myself but after 3hrs and 2 small bits done decided to let my mate do it , The stainless wasn't the best length i've ever had and was really grainy and took a lot of work to cut through the skin. Anyway he done an excellent job and only took 4 days. While the bits were away i varnished the wood bows but hated the colour, it just didn't look right with the natural wood colour and didn't look part of the car so i rubbed then down yet again and stained them green and then put on 3 coats of polyurethane yacht varnish, they seem to blend in better now Hopefully Tom will be over with the hood cover and header bow soon
Langy You gotta make a video when you fire it up and drive it. We gotta see it! Awesome, just plain awesome.
I've got a few alterations i want to do as i'm not happy with a few bits but it won't be long, I will get a video done for you guys that can't see it in the flesh. Thanks for the positives its appreciated.
It took me a good 2 hours but I got through this Thread entirely. Your work is Fantastic.... I've got new found inspiration now...... Gotta go..... I'm off the Keyboard & getting back in the Garage.....
Great build! I admire your fab skills. Dad had a 64 olds 88 2 dr. h.t. with the 394, couldn't figure out why the rear tires wore so quickly (16 year old son). Great engine.
wow what a true craftsman you are. the car is outstanding. i wanted to flake my frame as well what size did you use
Amen Brother! Wow, what a truly amazing build. This car needs to come over and compete for the Riddler or AMBR award. The Olds motor is icing on the cake for me!! JT
Finally decided what to do with the drums, I kinda liked them with the cast finish but they would get grubby and be difficult to clean so decided to polish the tops of the fins and paint the rest, I'm pretty pleased with the look
wowsers... what a car! Awesome build thread... incredible attention to detail... top notch engineering... the works... you name it... wow!!! Wallace and Gromit DEFINITELY approve... you like his sweater don't you? Every now and then the H.A.M.B. coughs up a thread I find I must read from beginning to end... and I can't wait to see this one roll outside.
Wow!!!!!!!! That is one of the nicest cars I have ever laid eyes (through a computer or in person). You are a true craftsman and that is one sweet car!!! I looked at every picture and have just spent the last 2-1/2 hours of my life staring at the details of this car!!! If you ask me, thats time well spent!
Thanks for the kind comments guys, Its virtually finished although i just want to change a few bits before using it.
Finally decided what to do with the front drums, so here they are still not 100% sure about them but if i need to i can change later. I put both the engine and trans dipsticks on the firewall, made them out of some old Lokar dipstick parts and a bit of hose plucked from my scrap bin. Finished them off with a pair of NOS Cal Custom Dagger handles i got from Ebay . Under car shot What i have so far I even let the T lady sit in it
So THAT is what it looks like all together! If you are home on Monday Steve I will drop by and have a proper look (if that is OK with you?) Need my valve covers polishing so will bring them with me as well. Really, really looks the part Steve. Fantastic. P.
Just found this today and read all 15 pages. Totally freakin' kick ass. I've subscribed so I don't miss the video.
WOW! The car is superb! And your metal work is second to none!! I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but its beginning to look like you're rather fond of Metalflake Green...I know...I could be wrong, but I'm seein' a pattern here.it's a neat rod in any case. Bill
Thanks for the positives Bill, only green on this car Bill, next one is Copper flake, This is the colour
