As far as I know this is the original. I'll post more pics later. How do I ID it and where's the best place to find a rebuild kit. Thx ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1385387986.349960.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1385388000.704749.jpg

It might have had a metal tag under one of the screws, with the number, which is long gone.

Best way to ID it would be to provide a couple pictures showing the whole carb, from a few different angles. And maybe measure the throttle bore in the bottom, to the nearest 1/32"

Based on the vent holes and manual choke visible in your pictures I'd say it's a model B...used on '49-'54 Chevy inlines.

More pictures equals more accurate information, though

OK...I didn't pay attention to the choke link nor did I see an automatic choke....

The vents still point to an early carb.
The B was manual choke and the BC was an automatic choke.
The BC was used on '52-'54 Chevys and '51-53 Pontiac.
There are some finite differences in venturi size, but I'm not familiar enough with these to know which is which.

I have a bunch of these slugs laying around and gave up trying to get any kind of "performance" (read that to say "function";)) out of them long ago.

Too many other carb options out there that are much better.

PS...Don't take my comments about the carbs performance as gospel. It's my opinion based on my experience....If your restoring your engine it's the only carb to use...If your building a hot rod or wanting more performance out of a built inline....look for a better alternative.
There are guys that like 'em and can make 'em work.

Turn it upside down and look near the lip where the base joins the top.If there is a set of casting numbers they should start with 70
