This one is nuts! I'm following the ideas and stance on this one for my own new project. Built by Jim Smith out of "left overs" in OKL. Followed him around Ft. Worth GG's all day. Wow.

For those who don't know - this little truck has been everywhere he can drive without wings nintynine times over. Gotta' have gillion miles on it. I'd think twice about takin' my Tahoe on trips Bruce makes in this thing.

That RPU was built by a young man named Henry from Mansfield, Ohio using a new Brookville body. He streched cab 6 inches, 2.5 in doors and 3.5 in rear of the cab and shortened the bed 2 in front and 2.5 in rear. It was sold ready for paint and upholstery to Jim Smith of Hot Rod Garage. Check there website there's a picture of sitting on the trailer the way they bought it, they didn't build anything using left overs, and if that's what there saying then there full of shit.

  9. Great thread, looks about 50- 50 regarding the fenders or no fenders.I like the fenders just a little more than fenderless.

That was Bub Johnson's and was a daily driver forever. He passed recently and his wife still drives it in the Portland, Oregon area.

I'm gathering parts to build a 28-29 right now (I should just include a picture of my garage and all the RPU crap in it right now for this thread), so I've been doing some research and collecting pictures of the RPUs that have the look I like. here are a few, some I stole (probably mostly from the HAMB), some I took at car shows, etc.

  20. Thanks Guss, It's not fair to not give credit where credit is due, Henry and his dad did a lot of work to that car before they sold it on E bay.

The body was actually an original RPU cowl with new doors and rear section from brookville, it is the project I sold him with the Du Val windshield and a set of new frame rails that they didn't use.

It is sitting on His old chassis the one that my roadster body came off of.

Yes, true, but it looks a darn site better than Henry's cobbled up 32 RPU.

Here's one from South Australia. It was originally built as a tub by my friend Tony Kuchel for his wife. Tony is a long time rodder from the wine country north of Adelaide and his entire family are into the hot rod scene. When his daughter got to be old enough to drive the car became her ride but she did not like it as a tub so she took classes to learn to weld and such and this is the result. The last time that I visited Tony and took these photos the car had been passed on to his son (nice high schol ride) and his daughter was building a chopped 34 coupe.
