...and on this day, the phrase "pucker factor" became part on the English language.
Wonderful thread, thank you so much!
Here's three of my favorites
Think you better go RIGHT!
Hey, i've done that too. Here's my '69 Ford Escort "Big Wing Mexico"
I love that car...
Its a lot of fun.
That car scares the bejesus out of me...........but the other one I can handle.
It will do about 120 MPH on the straights with a 1000CC engine.
And it did a high 16sec 1/4 mile, in the rain...
I like flat and wide, that thing is round and reminds me of a rubber ball........ESPECIALLY on the rain *dies*.
I am loving this thread! Especially the CanAm shots! My old Boss was a CanAm driver (hell, he has driven everything at some point).
If anyone has a collection of CanAm pictures, do you know if you have any shots of a McLaren M3B (Known as the M1C in Europe). The car was black, with gold rockers, #72. I have only found one shot of it, and it was one that I already had an original of. Jeff was an independent driver, so there really aren't any pictures of him on the net. He now restores British cars in Boston (at least I HOPE he is still working)!
Some pics from the Watkins Glen Vintage Gran Prix a couple months ago...
A couple more...
The rest can be seen here:

Another one: Vintage AC Bristol (the car Shelby used for the Cobra) and my Kirkham:
1931 Bugatti Type 35A/51 Grand Prix
1927 Bugatti Type 35B Grand Prix
1920 Bugatti Type 13 Bresica 2 Seat Dog Cart
1949 Veritas C-90 Coupe
1949 Veritas Rennsport Spyder
1928 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Zagato Spyder
1955 OSCA MT4 Morelli Spyder
I've got a load more...I'll track some more down & add later.
As somebody else already mentioned, hot rodding is trying to get the best performance possible out of your equipment.
I don't care if you turn left only, turn left and right, go straight, run on asphalt, dirt, gravel, or climb hills. I love it all. That was one of the greatest things about the 15 years I spent working for NHRA at IRP. Can you imagine getting up and going to work every day to an oval, a road course, and a drag strip? There were times during the week when we had testing going on at the oval and the drag strip, or the oval and the road course. Never did figure out the timing to do the drag strip and road course at the same time.
And there were a few times we actually had competitive events, with spectators, going on at the drag strip and the oval at the same time.
Keep those photos coming.
These are some of the best photograph's I've ever seen. What a variety!!
how about this one... uses some 50's ford parts and has a rocket motor!
Great thread you guys. I went to Goodwood this past September. If you ever get the chance to go, it's a fantastic Vintage Race weekend. Here's a couple of pics. The guy in the white shirt and tie talking to the mechanic of the red Alpha Romeo 8C is me. The mechanic spoke no English and I spoke no German but we still managed to discuss superchargers. And yes you do have to dress to get in to the paddock.
Oops, it's not an Alpha 8C in the pic, it's a Maserati.
Some cool old Audi pic's and Logo's!
Some HOT CanAm/GTP/Drag cars and other stuff!
I'll see your Audi and raise you ScooterMcRad's wall art.......
It's over 6 foot tall and is one half of a dealer's sign.
I don't know what this is, but it was shiny, so I took pics...........
