Roadrace cars... vintage, nostalgia, historic

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by zman, Dec 18, 2009.

  1. I don't know for sure but I'll ask next time I see him, I suspect A Sedan SCCA sanctions events.
There was one LeMans that did run some Trans Am races, unfortunately it has not surfaced that I'm aware of, it would be great to see it again.

It was before my time but it seems Riverside hosted just about every kind of race.

    http://riversideinternational.org///index.htm

click on "Learn", then "Riverside International Raceway" to learn about the history and click on "Cars" to see a huge list of the cars on display in the museum.

Hope you enjoy and that some of you visit the museum and donate to keep it going.

Yet another semi-obscure, X-over rod / racer. I didn't know about this one until I got my Mar 2011 Hot Rod Deluxe. Hank (Henry) Rootlieb's roadster. Anyone have more pix or info? Later, Gary

Simply a gorgeous transplant for the better. I am rather a purist but admire your mech. skill and good taste. Congratulations

Here's a few pictures from a piece on the short lived USAC pro sports car racing circuit event at Lime Rock, CT in 1958. I was there to see a number of USAC Indy drivers in some hot rodded European cars, and the Sadler Special in a race that was won by George Constantine driving the Elisha Walker Aston Martin.

The Maserati 250F, IMHO, one of the most beautiful race cars of all time

We had a Kurtis 500S at our 2011 Beech grove, Indiana car show in this same color combination although with a SBC instead of a DeSoto.

    A stunning car.

This one breaks some HAMB car age rules, but who cares, its too cool not to post:

The road will be 100% paved for the first time in 2012. Record times will be falling and we'll be seeing a whole new group of racers going for the top.

An old (me too) college buddy from NIU in DeKalb, IL (an artist, architect, graphic designer, sculptor, etc.) rebuilt this 67 TVR. It's a nice ride and pretty well built. Not bad for a guy in his back yard, eh? Gary

  29. In November of 1955, I borrowed my sister's boyfriend's Argus C-3; and headed out over the hill (I lived in Pasadena CA) to Grand Central Air Terminal in Glendale, California. It was a cold and cloudy day; but this is one of my shots:
