Faced the block side of the bell, fixed the cut out part of the flange, painted everything and bolted it back up...

  4. Great progress. Can you get a close up of the slave & fork? I'm going down a similar road. Thanks!

It's been awhile. Been busy with work. Got the shifter mounted and adjusted. Ordered a rebuild kit for it too...

  8. Nicely done. I scrapped the headers on my build, going with rams horns manifolds, makes the clutch-slave mount and plumb a lot easier.

I'm ordering u bends today so u can clock the collectors down and away

  10. That would help. It also doesn't look like you'll have much adjustment at the fork either, but maybe you won't need much.

I'm assuming lots of adjustment is for a mechanical set up rather than hydraulic. Hopefully I'm assuming correctly.

All I can say is that I'm glad you are way further with yours than I am with mine. I'm learning a ton from your thread. I'll probably be hitting you up for one of those motor mount setups you made whenever I get there. I really like the way you did that. It just looks right.

Thanks man! I'm glad it's helping somebody out.

  14. Here's my slave set up. I used the Speedway rod, just not on in this picture.

That's definitely a plus to the cast iron bell. I have delusions of grandeur of actually racing this thing on stage II of the build, so I went with the scatter shield

Got my body mounts and bolt kit today. Also got a 3" u bend to clock the collectors away from the clutch slave and frame. Bought the t handle hex key set cuz I needed to spend $0.96 more to get free handling. More tools!

  17. The bell is actually a 1955 Chevy piece, thought it was from a newer Chevy truck. Takes the bigger clutch and the starter bolts to it. Lots of advantages to using the truck stuff.

Pushed the body outside to hose it down blow out all the dust before it goes back on the frame for rust repair and squaring up.

Pulled the motor, pulled the wheels, dropped the frame on the ground with some wood underneath, and had 8 rugby players lift it on. Success.

Got the nice motor on the stand and the mock up bolted together to go back in the chassis. Don't want to get the pretty one dirty with all the cutting and grinding.

  21. Did the mock up thing with my Ford as well... had to, good engine is in the shop.

Trimmed the firewall braces. I left the outside frame mounts, because I like these braces, and everybody just ditches them when they do the v8 swap. I'm going to fab some that go around the motor and clear the steering while keeping the same frame mount location.

More progress. Got the body squared up on the mounts, started bagging and tagging interior goodies, pulled the seats, and started to assess the rust situation.

Now for the fun part. Your car looks to be in pretty decent shape though. Keep it up!

deto, How about a part number/make/year-car your headers were designed for? Start making those Motor mount/trans crossmember parts to help finance the 49 Coupe! Our 51 Bus Coupe is currently parked outside. We've been getting LOTS of rain and wind. Water apparently seeped in through the hood molding/split, and saturated the open element air cleaner, then went down through the carb, into number six intake port, and locked the engine up when I went to start it. I pulled the plugs, and spun the engine over, blew the water out (was't much thankfully), reinstalled the plugs, and it fired right up. NO water in the oil, no signs of a bent rod or anything. The engine is now covered with a plastic garbage sack to keep the water off. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

I'm buying all of my patch panels this week and I'm gonna tackle all the repair over Christmas break. If work wasn't so busy I would work on selling kits!

Had to work during the break. But I'm planning on making the initial cuts over the weekend. Got it cribbed up for my back's sake 1451609561530.jpg

Sweet! This may be a super dumb question, but how are you going to get the car down from those blocks?

Those blocks are all nailed together
I just used the floor jack I had and it lifted it up enough to slide them under the wheels. Should come down just as easy
