A Wonderful Artist who will truly be missed...R.I.P. Etta... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRxUQA5uvtw <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/lRxUQA5uvtw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I listened to her sing at an outdoor concert on the Little Rock side of the Arkansas River. The year was close to 1993. I'm thankful to have seen and heard her sing.
My God, Etta's just tearing it up! I haven't seen this clip since the 80's. Thank you so much for sharing it.
He used to host a Saturday morning radio show out of the Bay Area.........I was fortunate enough to get an autographed photo that is hanging in my office. Sad to see the great ones go but their music will always live on. Rock 'n Roll...................
Never had the pleasure of seeing either one perform live. In the early 50's, I remember watching the "Johnny Otis Show", I don't think that it was on the air very long. Etta James is one of my R&B favorites, love her rendition of "At Last". I have a custom cd, that I play in the shop, with "At Last" and "All I Could Do Was Cry" as well as Johnny Otis' "Hand Jive" on it. Dinah Washingtons' "Sunday Kind Of Love" is also on it, think I'll go out and crank it up... R.I.P.
She is one of my wife and I's favorite female singers....... Also, she was not afraid to buck the status Quo, on her last albumn,The Dreamer, she covers such varied styles as Guns and Rose's/welcome to the jungle!!!!
