The Hawaiian passed away, great team owner and friend to many racers.

Roland supplied THE seat to be in for a few decades, and brought us Danny Ongais as well. RIP Mr. Leong.

  5. Yikes, that came outta nowhere. I remember when I first saw him on television. Well spoken fellow I thought. He was crew chief for Prudommes fuel funny car at the time. Prayers for his family, friends and fellow racers.

  17. A lot of the great ones and many of the "bit players" are passing by the wayside: Roland Leong, Shumacher, Paula Murphy, one of the Condit brothers, and Sherm Gunn (from AA/GS, alcohol F/C and fuel F/C). RIP to all of these memorable racers.

  19. The Hawaiian was a great guy !
I’ve got a magazine somewhere with an old pic of Roland running the valves,,,, sitting in the bend of the zoomies .
He had his back to the camera,,,,,the man was all business .

If I remember the caption of the story,,,,,,it stated that the one thing that all drivers for Roland had in common,,,,,,”the finest safety equipment that money can buy “ !

He helped sell a lot of Hawaiian Punch to the public back then !
Great drink ,,,,,,great business man !
