I met Bill through his nephew Teddy Z many years ago,.... A very talented and unassuming man,... A "Motor City" Hero..... You will be missed, But never forgotten "Shorty" .... So long,... you were a much bigger man than you could ever have imagined. RIP

  11. Just heard the news. Man, I'm so bummed. Glad I got to see Bill at work at the Leadsled each time I went. Also glad I got to shake his hand and tell him how much I appreciated his work and contribution to the kustom world. My deepest condolences to all his family and friends. He will be missed!
Until we meet again, Vaya con Dios, Mr. Hines..........E

Sad to hear about this. What a talent he had. I read he started in a gas station he operated in Lincoln Park, MI. Anyone know the address? I would like to see what is there today.

I started with lead in 1955, had difficulty coordinating heat, lead, and paddle to get in step with the 'dance'...
Watched Bill do it, and had to chuckle. He spread it out like it was butter...
Always a pleasure to see him, I already miss him.
    God speed, big man.

Rest easy Mr. Hines, I respected this man's tenacity to work in the Aug. heat at KKOA. he was always quick to accept a handshake with a sweet smile. One of a kind who had the industries respect. Thanx for a great contribution sir

Another legend passes on. Considering the residents, there must be some outstanding rod's and kustom's on the other side.

    R.I.P. Mr. Hines.

Posted on one of the other threads about how much I appreciated the way he treated my young son at a KKOA event probably 20 years ago. Son John walked up to say hello to him after I told him who he was, and Mr. Hines was very gracious to him, and talked to him for a bit. He and his nephew had just arrived, and Bill looked tired, but took the time to talk to us. Very classy guy who took the time to speak to us every time he saw us. RIP Mr. Hines.
