I remember someone asking about this a while back, but I cant find it. I was curious the smallest width rim that would work with a 7.50-16 tire. I have seen some brands recommend 5-7 and others 5-6. Anyone have any experience using a less wide rim? Say a 4? Thanks

not sure off the top of my head which ones they are (put em on 12 years ago) but I think the widest 16" ford rims were 4 1/2"

Lots of people run those on 35 wires, including me.

I believe 35 wires are only 4 inches wide.

I ran 7.00 x 16s on my modified, the guy a Coker told me there wasn't a safety issue, just that the tire would wear faster in the middle because it's pinched in a little. That was on stock Kelseys 16 x 4"

I'm running 35 wires, which I *believe* mine are 4.5

this pic shows from the front and front the top back
I admit- 7.50's look a little balloon-like, but that's my favorite wheel and I wanted that tire height.....

7.50-16 tires will fit on 4" but look like too puffed out to me.
16"X5" bead stock steelies from F-1 pickups fit better.

    I have a good pair of 16 X 4 1/2 original steelies for 100 clams.

I ran 7.50x16 Firestones on my '34 with 16x4.5" rims - it was fine, no issues.

I need a wheel that has a 5x4.5 pattern. Steevil turned me on to some steelie spares from a late model Jeep but they are 4" and I want to run a 7.50-16 tire. I thought they may look balloon like but am having trouble finding a correct bolt pattern and wider rim for a reasonable price.

Hi Dustin, Hammer Hank used mopar wheels on his model a with the big and little stones, 4.50-16's and 7.00-16's. The mopar wheels have 4-1/2" BP and are 16x4 or 4.5" wide. He drove the hell out of that car including donuts in the middle of Woodward and never had a problem with the tires.

I have a set I bought for my roadster, but I like the mags better, so I never used them. I'll send you a PM about them.

i went with 41 lincoln wheels. they're 5 inches wide and look just like the 40 ford 4 inch wide wheels i'm using in the front. the 7.50s look good on them.

I have put 750x16" on 7" rims and they looked very good. Granted, I windend the stock ford rims for this. I was trying to move my wheel in on my roadster pu. After we widened the rim we moved the center out to the edge. So I wouldn't have to narrow the rear end.--TV

    F1 wheels were 16 x 6 and they take the 7:50 tires.

    I run 7:00 x 16's on 35 wheels which are 16 x 4. No problems with wear..

Steevil told me about these and I found some at my local scrap yard. I asked for anything off of Grand Cherokees 93-98 and Cherokees 84-02. Now I'm just trying to figure out if I can safley use them or not with regular tires. After I bought them I noticed a sticker on the wheel which says" This rim is not intended for use with conventional tires." Does anybody else have any idea why they would put a warning like that on these?? They are 16x4 and I would run 7 or 7.50-16 tires in the back.

    Here is a 7.50 X 16 on a 16 X 4 1940 ford wheel.
I swapped the tires to 5" bead F-1 wheels.
I have an extra pair left.
