First off welcome check out the Virginia hamb(ers) social group.Sorry but RVA is piss poor far as hot rods.
thanks. yeah, haven't seen a whole lot of cars around the richmond area yet, and so far the cops don't seem to be very cool here either. i've been here for just under a month and have been pulled over twice. oh well, guess i'm doing something right. i'll defenately check out the va hambers though.
Welcome, koppy. As Paul & Dave (DRuss32) said, be sure to join the VA HAMBers social group. It gets worse the farther north you go...
Hey buddy. Sorry for the poor perception of VA so far! Not a bad car town! What part are you in? Definitely join the VA HAMBers and you can hook up with us for the Nats in a few weeks. At the Richmond Raceway. Check out my brothers site as well...he has upcoming events listed in there as well as Cruise night spots. Tilleysspeedandcustoms.com is his site. Tater
It's not for a lack of cars! If we all got together for a large show or two or three a year, this place could be pretty damn cool.
thanks guys. i signed up with the va hambers last night. i think i have to be out of town the weekend of the nats. if i'm here i'll come out, if not, i'll meet up with you guys soon. thanks for the info. keep me posted on the events.
There is a show this weekend at Richard Bland College which is about 30 minutes south of Richmond. Not necessarily the best car show, but it beats doing yardwork. http://www.balchautomotiveandcollision.com/carshow.html
MOVE OUT ! Sorry I couldn't help myself , Just being a smart ass OR a dum ass.... Anyway its just a joke .....Not my cup o tea ,but been their many many times.... I think the name of the road is POWHITE ,Has lots of flea markets and pawn shops... If ya like that kind of thing..........
try not to get shot on weekends/nights by the cops or the drug dealers/buyers. wear your seatbelts. have a current and clearly visible inspection sticker.... as well as current and visible plates! fronts are required in Va too. don't refer to State Troopers as "Sheriff"... "Deputy"... or anything other than "Trooper Sir"........... go see Monticello one weekend. cool place, designed by brilliant man. go to Natural Bridge Speedway on a Friday night (yeah fuck it's a ways but go anyway) and then Martinsville another (other damn end of the state i know) and THEN drive the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway in late autumn. NOW i'm getting homesick.
NSRA Nationals are at the Richmond Raceway Complex , Aug.28-30. Here are pics from last year: http://public.fotki.com/mamaprez/car-shows-2008/nsra-richmond-nationals/
hey welcome to VA ! i'm up in the Blue Ridge Mtns. my daughters live in R'mond; so get down there in the blue bomber every couple months. didn't know there was a VA HAMB Group
Koppy, are you the same Koppy that went to Wyotech and Slippery Rock? If so, haven't heard from you in a long time! I live in Virginia Beach now so not far from you! Johnny (that used to be in the band with Ace)
THERE are LOTS of "CARS" hot rods,,street rods,, customs,, drag cars,, roundy roundy cars,, and most any other type of mechanized vehicle you may be interested in. As already suggested,,join the HAMB group,, get a copy of NSRA fellow pages as its loaded with clubs in the area plus supplys names and phone numbers. There are a lot of geezers that I grew up with that are still around and lots of them have family that are keeping the hobby alive. There are cruize-ins all over town and weekend shows with in a 125mi. radius that can keep you plenty busy. I'm now 140 mi. and wish I could get to town more often. So good luck, you'll meet a lot of nice people.
man richmonds great! RVA RODZ! its a little later then what you may enjoy but its real fun..look out for the couple 60's mercs rollin around. what part of richmond are you in? i got to school at vcu so im down there and have a few connections.. Will
Hey Koppy, welcome man... You just need to get out! There is a good bit of cool customs and rods in the central Va. area. You will see them all over the place every now and then. Lots of cruise-ins every weekend, so check em out. Hope to meet ya soon. take care
thanks for the info. i'll definitely check some of those places out. yeah, i found out the cop situation fast. it only took me 12 days in va to get myself a court date. but other than the law and some mechanical problems, the area seems pretty cool. looking forward to getting to know my way around.
johnny! holly hell. i haven't heard from you in years. how's things going for you? heard you got married. we should get together when you get some free time. still have that old buick? i just chopped the top on the chev, you'll have to take a peak at it sometime. should be back on the road pretty soon.
i'm living and working near the midlothian turnpike. so not too far away. i'll hopefully get out to some events soon.
Hey There are actually a lot of cars in Richmond. Many are hidden away. The largest collection of original Ardun Heads I have ever seen is in Richmond. As well as some of the baddest 34 coupes out there that Hambers would die for. No, I can't say where or who. Sorry. A lot of race cars also. Most of the guys who have the cars Hambers would die for, don't have a computer, old school guys. The cars just go out on a rare rare occasion. But, there are regular cruises, and Virginia Motorsports Park, one of the fastest NHRA tracks. Once you get out, you will be suprised. Have fun Wil www.sakowskimotors.com
