thanks. yeah, haven't seen a whole lot of cars around the richmond area yet, and so far the cops don't seem to be very cool here either. i've been here for just under a month and have been pulled over twice. oh well, guess i'm doing something right. i'll defenately check out the va hambers though.

Sadly not much of a car town…

  5. Welcome, koppy.

As Paul & Dave (DRuss32) said, be sure to join the VA HAMBers social group.

It gets worse the farther north you go...

    Hey buddy.
Sorry for the poor perception of VA so far! Not a bad car town! What part are you in? Definitely join the VA HAMBers and you can hook up with us for the Nats in a few weeks. At the Richmond Raceway. Check out my brothers site as well...he has upcoming events listed in there as well as Cruise night spots.
    Tilleysspeedandcustoms.com is his site.

  7. It's not for a lack of cars!

If we all got together for a large show or two or three a year, this place could be pretty damn cool.

try not to get shot on weekends/nights by the cops or the drug dealers/buyers. wear your seatbelts. have a current and clearly visible inspection sticker.... as well as current and visible plates! fronts are required in Va too. don't refer to State Troopers as "Sheriff"... "Deputy"... or anything other than "Trooper Sir"........... go see Monticello one weekend. cool place, designed by brilliant man. go to Natural Bridge Speedway on a Friday night (yeah fuck it's a ways but go anyway) and then Martinsville another (other damn end of the state i know) and THEN drive the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway in late autumn.
    NOW i'm getting homesick.

Koppy, are you the same Koppy that went to Wyotech and Slippery Rock?
If so, haven't heard from you in a long time! I live in Virginia Beach now so not far from you!

THERE are LOTS of "CARS" hot rods,,street rods,, customs,, drag cars,, roundy roundy cars,, and most any other type of mechanized vehicle you may be interested in. As already suggested,,join the HAMB group,, get a copy of NSRA fellow pages as its loaded with clubs in the area plus supplys names and phone numbers. There are a lot of geezers that I grew up with that are still around and lots of them have family that are keeping the hobby alive. There are cruize-ins all over town and weekend shows with in a 125mi. radius that can keep you plenty busy. I'm now 140 mi. and wish I could get to town more often. So good luck, you'll meet a lot of nice people.

thanks for the info. i'll definitely check some of those places out. yeah, i found out the cop situation fast. it only took me 12 days in va to get myself a court date. but other than the law and some mechanical problems, the area seems pretty cool. looking forward to getting to know my way around.

    Hey
There are actually a lot of cars in Richmond. Many are hidden away.
The largest collection of original Ardun Heads I have ever seen is in Richmond. As well as some of the baddest 34 coupes out there that Hambers would die for.
No, I can't say where or who. Sorry.

A lot of race cars also. Most of the guys who have the cars Hambers would die for, don't have a computer, old school guys. The cars just go out on a rare rare occasion.

But, there are regular cruises, and Virginia Motorsports Park, one of the fastest NHRA tracks.

Once you get out, you will be suprised.
    Have fun
    Wil
