OMG Steve - that is too cool! Something about firing up a Hemi - I couldn't talk before or after! Can't wait to see you going down the track! Congrats to Norm, Keith, and Steve! I actually have a dragster frame on my Christmas List - but I don't know if I've been naughty or nice!
Damn, now I guess I need to spend the winter making my old TE440 safe enough to run. Congrats Steve. Do you have a super cool trailer to pull it on yet??
Man Tyler I looked at your profile and saw your pics of your gennie 440....whoa dude, get that thing together. They are so fine when finished. I know, I am still shakin when I look at mine. I do want to build or better yet find a purpose built trailer for this digger. It would be the cherry on top. I have seen a couple, Jim Jard has one of the coolest enclosed dragster trailers from the 60's that came w/ the flathead powered FED that he had at the DOTD, so I may study that one since its in Houston and make one like it if I can't find a cool one around. Even thought about looking for an early 60's truck w/ a roll off to haul it to the strip. How cool would that be? While I am on the subject about the new toy, I forgot to thank in my post above, my new buddy, Russell Shoulders up in Forney, Tx. Russell built me a vertex magneto for the DeSoto motor and did it in record time for a very fair price. Russell is very good and I highly recommend him. He also has a full machine shop and looks like he knows what to do w/ an engine. I will be taking him work in the future. You can find Russell at www.vertexrepair.com Great guy w/ alot of race experience
Sent my X drag racing friend this thread and he got so excited he spent all night on ebay checking out hemi. parts.
Spy Shots from the Tardel Ruckus Ranch..... hell yea..... Going home....... I gotta say...Keith Tardel is one of the most under-stated(quiet) and talented geniuses out there.... If I was closer..I am damn sure he would have a restraining order on me. The man is brilliant.
No problem Toymaker! Steve sent me fresh ,hot n wet shots from the Revolution of the super fresh paint scheme for the Team 111 car.... Darren the Austin Aussie.or is he South African?... I dunno(Forgive me Darren!! Car is presently at the Revolution....
Here are a couple of pics of the digger at the GNRS 2012 where it won 1st place in the dragster class. Totally taken by surprise. We just went out there to have fun and then Ken Gross says " 1st place, all the way from Austin, Texas and I see a picture of the digger on the big screen on stage....I almost shit. Congrats to Keith and Norm and Vernon McKean and David at Cen-Tex Plating and Wade at Buffy's and Darren Wenzel for the awesome artwork and Norwell for the art design. We are still grinnin ear to ear. Thanks everyone who helped out on this one
Hey Steve, it was good to see you, Norm and Bob again. Your Dragster is awesome. I took a bunch of pics of it. Here are two, but I will post more later, if you want.
