Great to see another old racer , back in the original owners hands. Looking forward to seeing it redone. I hope the plan includes retaining all the old goodies, especially that real Covico wheel! Have fun, haul ass...

  5. Really great story. I have to say that the new paint looks astonishing. It really looks like it is going to come out well. I hope that we get some updates further down the road as this things gets to actually moving under its own power.

BTW, just in the photos it looked like the father was reminiscing about the car. I wish the rest of the project goes well and the family has a lot of fun with it.

Great article and heart warming story. I'll be looking for the Rebel Rouser in London, Russell Springs, Hardinsburg and especially at the Hot Rod Reunion, Beech Bend, Bowling Green.

" Denzil, his brother Shirley and a few friends started construction on the car in 1960."
Like a Boy named Sue, I hope Shirley was a tough dude.
Seriously, what a great car and story. Really will be cool to see Dad take a spin in his old car.

I have always been a MAJOR fan of early Altereds, and this really is awesome.

How can we continue to follow along to see "The Rest Of The Story"?

I LOVE stories like this! So awesome to get the car back and have dear ol dad still around to bring it back to life ! Subscribed, congrats to you both!
  23. When I saw this thread I though it might be about this car. Was built in '57 by Les Ritchey, and kicked a lot of Chevy butt.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I will be assembling it over the next couple of months as most everything is done, just have to put it all back like it was. I am talking to a few hand letterers right now and looking to make a decision on who to replicate it all back as pictured. Don't want any "artistic" modifications, just back as close as it can be done. I will share more photos/videos as it goes, and hopefully a maiden ride in the next few months. Thanks again to Joey for his interest in my project, and all the enthusiasm shared by fellow HAMB friends! Dwayne

Nick I hope to have it at the Hot Rod Reunion at Bowling Green this June. Probably go to US 60 Nostalgia Drags first out next year. I want to make some solo passes etc and see how it reacts. I think the steering will be my biggest issue from running it very much, it will be mostly a "flower pot" however that's ok as I would be heart broken if I wrecked it being it is a big part of my family and irreplaceable.

It's featured in the Hotrod Deluxe that is on the news stands now. He definitely did it justice.
