Coming along nice. Sorry about your Dad. RIP
Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
Finally little more progress..
Got the transmission completed and back in...
A little work on the engine.. Got rid of the shiny FUGLY and gave the oil pan a brushed look.
Intake set on with rebuilt carbs..
and a look to see if the mag would fit.
The air cleaner I want gonna hit it SIGH
A quick mock up of grill and hood,....
But with rad in place it is going to be a few inches short even with grill right up to rad...
Another big SIGH !
Can you notch the air cleaner aka makitfit?...
was looking and looking for a fan to use but it was either wrong rotation a stinking flex fan or just to large. Seen a 4.3 fan in back of trash truck and was about right size.. hmm again wrong rotation though.. UGH
So looked at my solid axle conversion s10 blazer with a 2.8 and WOW look at that cute little bugger and correct rotation to boot.
dont think I am gonna need a riser
Here is what I want to use...
...well that would be a sizable notch...I hope you have a Plan B...
Maybe risers off the carbs, there must be a bottom housing that goes with that I suspect...there seems to be some wiggle room above...some...
I just noticed you don't have the
You are correct...
Yes there is a bottom plate of sorts I started making from 3 different 2bbl air cleaners.
As you can see the Mallory fits...
I would have to raise the air horns for the base 4 inches to clear the mag ..
Yes you may have to look at other options...certainly an obstacle,
Perhaps offsetting the filter box and studs fwd could achieve the goal...
Almost forgot one other thing... Added some noisy gears, Dont know if there gonna be heard over the headers..
AS much as I tried the Mallory is the route I have to go.. The carbs are LARGE base Rottenchestors.
Nothing off shelf for it beside those stinking helmet's. With the air cleaner sitting where it wouldn't obstruct the carb flow it still sits over the dizzy.
Also the top plate has 2 factory notches the the rad support rods meet together like factory..
And yes I will have to Z the air cleaner rods go go thru the holes properly.
Leave room for when the engine torques over, both sides because the engine torques the opposite direction in reverse.
Tight, Tight, really tight...if you fabbed the lower box to have .5 to 1" of clearance above the carb you could move it fwd and the air could still pass freely into the carb but would it look wacky moved fwd that much?...I also see the water neck is also near under it which might also be a headache...just thinking out loud...
Yeah, only the Rocky 33 was a little rougher than this 34.
My plates and I am getting emotional
What filter element is that? It looks to be 3" tall.
K&N #e1963 it is 3 inch tall
Thanks, I have used that air cleaner for 20 years but the short filter from Ford would cause fuel to be pulled from the bowl vents.
