Projects Renters insurance????

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by jim1932, Apr 9, 2020.

  1. I am renting a 2 car garage that is not attached to someones house. Basically a row of garages behind town hoses (Row houses). looking to insure the parts and tools. like a $4.5K model A project in parts. Haggarty doesn't do it if it is not in your attached garage. Anyone know a solution?

I'm not sure if you can do it where you are but sometimes you can add off site storage to your home owners insurance policy. Check with your insurance broker.

May be hard to insure parts. Buddy of mine just had some serious storm damage. Insurance covered the building put not the parts. He lost a mint '46 Chevrolet p/u cab to a large oak tree.

Hagerty wrote insurance on a project car in a builders shop for me, and Encompass would cover storage in a rental unit. I always buy thru a broker, and they always seem to solve the problem. If you're buying direct it might be harder to solve.

If you have home owners insurance or maybe even renters insurance you might get a rider on it to cover the stuff in the "offsite" garage.
