So I am starting to put my truck back together again and I am ready to reattach the engine and tranny. I have a throwout bearing (see pic) that needs to be R&R'd but I dont know how to get the old one off. Can anyone tell me how? I am thinking it was pressed on. If so where can I take it to have it pressed off? And I assume if it was pressed on the new one also has to be pressed on?
    Thanks.

That's just a light press fit....move it about 1/8" and it will come off in your hand. We use our shop press, but an easy way for you is this. Prop some steel chunks under the bearing part (bearing part up). Take a piece of steel pipe....or an old bearing race....anything the same diam as the inner hub that's just barely sticking up thru the bearing. Tap it with a hammer and....voila!.....they will separate. You can reassemble the hub and new bearing with a vise. Just allow for that last little bit to protrude thru the new bearing.

Check the flat side tabs of your hub. If they have wear "troughs" on the side of the release fork tips, it's a good idea to replace it too.
